Lots of pictures from the weekend...
Austin enjoying some reading time with Grandpa.
We headed to the Maple Grove Community Center Pool on Saturday afternoon and had TONS of fun with Jenna and Alexis in the pool. It is a zero entry pool and has a little slide, waterfalls, spouts, bubblers, etc.
Alexis, Austin, Jenna, and I enjoying the pool.
(Yes, I went in my swimsuit, baby belly and all)
Splashing!
We scold him for splashing in the bathtub, so he was VERY excited to get to splash in the pool!
Alexis heading up on the stairs to the little water slide.
Trying out the bubbler spouts.
Austin had an absolute blast and enjoyed playing in the water all afternoon. He got really brave with the water and tried to go deeper and deeper into the pool. He fussed and cried at first when he accidentally tripped and went under water, but by the end, he didn't care if he went under. In fact, he got very brave with jumping in the water and eventually tried to run over to the deeper pool and jump in himself. Luckily, Jenna caught him before he jumped in. He was having so much fun, I would let him jump in to me and dip under the water, then pull him up again. Every time he would giggle, wipe the water off his face, and want to do it again.
Then it was over to Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Tim's for supper.
Here is Austin singing "Baby Beluga" on the karaoke microphone. Very cute!
Nanny (aka great-grandma to Alexis and Austin, or GiGi for short) with almost all her kids.
Nanny with Christopher and Linda.
Me with Michelle and Meredith.
Alexis blowing out her birthday candle. She's 5 years old now! Wow how time flies!
Austin loves to sing Happy Birthday and was very excited about the singing and the cupcakes!
Alexis thrilled with her presents she opened.
Brian being initiated into the family by trying the Ament family traditional dessert "chocolate pudding" (which is really a white cake covered with our special reciepe hot, rich, delicious chocolate sauce).
Yay! He likes it!
Austin had fun playing with Alexis's matchbox cars.
Jenna with all 3 of her godchildren.
On Sunday, we ran some errands in the morning. We picked out and ordered furniture for Austin's new bedroom, since the dresser (with changing table on top) and bookcase in his room now will stay in the nursery for the baby. We also tried out various double strollers and Sit N Stand strollers with Austin and the infant carseat we want, to make sure that everything fits together right.
That evening, we gathered with family at Jenna and Michael's house to celebrate all the August birthdays we've got in our family as well as see Hal, Linda, and Meredith before they headed home. Family birthdays in August include Steve (8/18), Jeannie and Hal (8/3), and we celebrated Alexis's birthday too (6/25).

After dessert, the kids returned to playing outside and Austin discovered water guns!
Here he is shooting water at Nanny and Grandpa! Love the overdramatic reactions.
Then it was back home and back to work for mommy on Monday morning. Now I'm on a clinic rotation all month, so I have a much more humane schedule. We have had a couple days of settling back in and are doing well.
Next order of business...working on potty training! Now that I'm on a more predictable schedule, we are going to try to be more active about getting Austin to sit on the potty and hopefully, will get him going! We're really hoping to get him potty trained before baby arrives!
Here is Austin on the potty after bath time, reading with daddy.
On a more saddening note, we received news that my grandma has recurrence of her lung cancer (a new cancer in her other lung, actually) with a poor prognosis and not much if any available treatment, so we would appreciate all the thoughts and prayers you can muster.

Lisa- I am so sorry to hear about your grandma- she is in my thoughts and prayers.....
best of luck with potty training!! it was an adventure for us, but it is nice to have to only change TWO in diapers when this one comes instead of THREE:)
What a great weekend- enjoy the clinic time!
