Baby Girl Still Doing Well

Baby girl is continuing to grow well. We had another checkup yesterday and she looks great. It is amazing how fast she grows. With Austin we saw him on ultrasound every 3-4 weeks at first, so it was not surprising to see him grow on each one. With this baby, we have been seeing her every 3-4 days lately, and we can still see how much she is growing just in a few days. It is truly a miracle to watch her grow and develop. Plus, every time we see that heart beating strongly and all her little baby parts growing beautifully, it helps to ward off the negative thoughts and worries and make us more and more hopeful that everything will turn out fine.

Here she is at 17 weeks and 5 days on 8/25...

On the left is her head with an oblique profile and her hand up by her face. The hand is on top of the picture and the smaller dark spot you see underneath that is her eye. The whiter parts just above and to the right of that are her facial bones. The big circle on the right side of the picture is a cross section of her chest/abdomen.
Beautiful little head. You can see the two halves of her brain to the left of the picture and then to the right of that on top and and bottom you see her two little eye sockets and in the middle of those are her facial bones.
This is just a picture of her all curled up with her hands together up by her head. You can see the two white lines next to each other (her two forarms right beside each other). To the left of the picture are her legs/knees (you see the left one brightest on the bottom of the picture).
That's my little pumpkin. She is behaving herself well. I am looking forward to starting to feel her kick in the next couple weeks. Our next checkup/ultrasound is next Thursday, so we'll be updating again around then. Our formal level 2 anatomy ultrasound is next scheduled for 9/8, so we'll be seen by the high risk OB person at that time and can get an idea of how they think it is going and how concerned about the placental abruption they are now.

Until then, I am trying to behave myself and remain fairly sedentary. I have been given permission to get out and about every now and then as long as I take it easy, so I will be going in to work for a meeting likely about once a week regarding the research stuff I am working on from home. My colleagues have been very sweet to rearrange of some of their schedules to accommodate for my absence. I have been approved by my residency director to take 5 weeks (end of August through the September block) as academic/research time so that I can still get credit for this time at home toward finishing my residency on time. What wonderful, understanding, accommodating people I work with!
