Baby Update

We had another prenatal visit yesterday and everything was looking great! Baby is beautiful, growing well, and VERY VERY active! My doctor even joked about needing some intrauterine Ritalin. Baby was very squirmy, so it was difficult to catch some pictures, but we did get some pretty good ones. We were able to see that the baby's lip is complete (no cleft lip), head looks great, heart is a beautiful normal 4 chamber heart beating well, legs are long (and doing some karate or something in there), spine is beautiful (no spina bifida or meningomyelocele), and baby is already sucking thumbs, making faces at us, and dancing!

Here are some pictures from our visit at 13 weeks 6 days.

Turned away from us a little bit, but showing us a beautiful arm while sucking a thumb.
Almost caught a profile shot.Gorgeous straight spine!
(with head to the right and left arm seen on top)
Head shot from the top.

Unless you know what you're looking at on this next one, it's hard to figure it out. We had a good view of baby's face straight on looking at us, but then baby squirmed upward making this more of an oblique view of the face. So on the top of the picture on the left, you see the head. The dark spots are the eys, the bright spots are the facial bones, and the below that is the neck and chest. I know, this picture makes my baby look like an alien, but on the moving pictures, baby really looks quite cute!
Didn't catch the facial profile here, but you can see above the body, the little dots there are the fingers of the hand. The one by itself is the thumb, then the 4 little dots above are each of the tiny fingers. Baby was going for the thumb suck again...yes, this is my child!
An oblique view of the leg all stretched out while kicking around in there. The bright white line near the middle of the picture is the femur (long bone of the thigh). Our doctor kept commenting on how long the legs are. We're not particularly surprised by that...Austin is pretty tall too.
We challenged our doctor to try to tell the sex of the baby, even though it is quite early to tell. With Austin, we saw his little boy parts at 14 weeks 4 days, and this time we were at our appointment 5 days earlier at 13 weeks 6 days. She worked very hard and actually got some good shots. At one point, we had a view of right leg, left leg, and no little boy parts in between. On another view, we thought we saw the labia. So we think that Baby Cronk is a GIRL, but we will still have to confirm on ultrasound at our next appointment (8/25) before we are sure. Our doctor is 75% sure it is a girl, but like I said, it is still pretty early to tell. Maybe Austin was right after all. All along, he has been pretty insistent that the baby is a girl! (except of course, when we asked him at the doctor's office...then he decided to be funny and say boy!)

I am excited to be finishing up my month of overnight shifts at work and returning to a more normal schedule for the next month before going back on nights. As soon as I'm done Saturday morning, we're headed up to the Twin Cities to see the Aments! Yay!

ooohhh- that would be so exciting if it was a girl- because i swear it has been a year of boys:)
Not that we don't love them, but it is always fun seeing pink, too:)
