Pillows!

So today has been about pillows...Austin's pillows, my pillows, and apparently, baby 's pillow too.

On my ultrasound today, baby girl was using the pocket of blood from the placental abruption as a pillow! She was happily lying right on it, as seen in the picture below. You can see her head and the top of her face (eyes and nose) and then to the right and below her head, you see the pocket of blood she is making herself comfy on. You can kinda see the line of the amniotic sac separating the baby from the abruption...if you look at the little line straight to the right of her head that goes out toward the wall, that's part of it. Crazy baby!
She still looks good on ultrasound. My doctor is out of town so I got to see her sister (who is also a family med doc here) today. Baby still has enough fluid, perfect heartbeat, and is squirming around. She appears to be growing well, though we will have all the official measurements when we have our anatomy ultrasound next Tuesday. She has been kicking this past week, strong enough that even Steve could feel her kick when he put his hand on my belly. So she's behaving...

Austin...well he's behaving now too, but we had a stretch where naps were non-existent and it took about 1.5-2 hours to get him to go to bed at night. When he did finally go to sleep, it was often around 10pm or later, and we usually found him asleep in his rocking chair.

This picture with the night vision setting on the camera shows what we found after he went to sleep and we went in to check on him. Asleep in his chair, stuffed animals and books everywhere...and before this picture I had already picked up the entire box of baby wipes that he had taken out of the wipes container and spread all over his room!

Though we still find him in his rocking chair often, he has gotten better about going to sleep now that I discovered he loves to have his window open so he can hear the crickets. Even that still fails us sometimes, but it certainly helps. He has a little memory-foam kind of toddler pillow for his bed and has been using it well for the past couple months. However, he has now decided that he wants to sleep on the pillow sham pillow with the helicopter on it that matches his bedspread. Last night and again for nap today, he wouldn't go to sleep until he put that pillow in his bed and snuggled in. He still freaks out if we even suggest putting the sheets, blanket, or bedspread over him when we tuck him in, but he apparently must have the pillow sham.

My pillow? Well I think it may be time for new ones for Steve and I. We have had these Tempur Pedic pillows (which we love) for years now and I think they are getting old. Or maybe I'm just not used to getting 8-9 hours of sleep a night, because I am now waking up with sore stiff neck. Oh well...maybe we'll have to go pillow shopping...for all of us.

Some other fun pictures from the past week or so...

The Geskes brought us dinner and good company last week.
Here are Austin and Inessa enjoying the French silk pie.

Austin snuggling his "soft Jack" and his "soft Eeyore" (as opposed to the plastic ones).
Any dalmation is "Jack" because that is the name of Gramma and PopPop's dalmation. The one from the fire engine (who now drives the school bus) is Jack, and the stuffed animal dalmation is "soft Jack."

Austin has now discovered that he loves to lie down in the bath water to get his ears under the water and listen to the swooshing of the water from underneath. Of course, this usually involves a lot of splashing too...to make more fun noises under the water, I suppose.

He has also been into sitting on his little rocking chair in the family room and "reading" to himself. He basically has most, if not all, of his books (even the newest ones) memorized and can flip the pages and recite the words as he goes. It is very entertaining to hear him "reading," even mimicking the intonation and inflection that we have used when reading him the books initially. Very cute!
He still LOVES his cars and trucks, and enjoys making a parking garage out of his wooden blocks for them to park on.
Of course, making a tunnel for the cars to go through, then building it higher into a "lovey tower" is pretty fun too! (Pooh builds a "lovely tower" in his "Pooh's First Day of School" book, so now every block tower is a "lovey tower.")
Peek a boo, Mommy!

Tomorrow, Steve heads to Tennessee for his 10 year high school reunion, while Austin and I hang out at Nanny and Grandpa's house. Notre Dame football starts on Saturday!! We'll be watching...we just have to tell the Irish that they have to win them all this year, because I'm not supposed to get my blood pressure up. So, for the baby's sake..."GO IRISH!" ; )

I love the temperpedic (sp?) pillows. We have them!

And I am pretty sure that "Jack" is the same as Isaac's "doggie." It's his favorite at bedtime!

Go Irish!!
Glad baby girl is doing well..... and funny how you mentioned not napping and delaying bed time- it has been Luke's theme this week. His tactic to get out of bed?
The potty.
The boy will pee two drops each time he gets up.... we are working on him making sure he gets "all the pee" out BEFORE he goest to bed.
Have a great weekend!
