House of Bounce!

Today Austin had his 2 year well child exam. He weighed 15.3 kg (33.66 lbs) and was 92 cm tall (36.2 inches). That means that he's in the 92nd percentile for height and 95th percentile in weight. He's growing well and doing well and it was fun to see Dr. Angie today. He was really fussy for nurse Angie and we had to get him calmed down before we could take his height and weight measurements, but then he calmed down before Dr. Angie came in. A med student was with her and Austin took to him quickly. Austin walked over to him, smiled, took his hand and took him to the door. The two of them went down the hall together to retrieve stickers and he came back with 3 big stickers on his shirt and big smile on his face.

After his appointment, he fell asleep on the way home. He had lunch then took his nap. After nap time and snack, we went to the Rochester House of Bounce. It's a brand new place here in Rochester with lots of big bouncy things to jump and play in. It was a fun place, was nice and clean, and Austin had lots of fun. The only bummer was that parents weren't allowed in the majority of the bouncers, so many of them were too big for Austin to do on his own but would have been fun for him with help from mommy or daddy. They did have some toddler-sized areas and some that adults were allowed on that we could bring Austin with us on.

Here are a couple of the toddler-sized bouncy areas...

Bouncing is fun, mom!
Austin climbing on the little slide in the toddler bouncer area.
They also had a train running on a figure 8 track that Austin could ride on. It was motorized and moved around the track if he held down the button on the handle. He had a blast and kept going back to it over and over again.

Austin's favorite was the big slide! This was one of the bouncers that parents/adults were allowed in, so we could help Austin climb up the ladder ramp to get to the top. He went down with me the first time, but was sliding down on his own right away the second time. He wanted to do it again and again and again and totally wore me out. He had a blast and was all smiles sliding down the giant slide! Unfortunately, the camera was out of batteries by then, so we didn't catch any shots of him on the slide.

Austin had lots of fun and we were all worn out after an afternoon of activity. We ended up staying there for 2 hours and Austin probably would have wanted to stay longer if it hadn't been time to go home for dinner. It was getting busy by the time we left, too, because a birthday party full of kids had arrived. We were almost the only ones there at the beginning, though, so it was nice to have the place almost to ourselves. We plan to go back sometime and do recommend it as a fun place to keep the kiddos occupied while it's freezing cold outside this winter.

A few other cute pics...
The other day, I noted that the foyer was getting really dirty from all the winter rocks and sand. I mentioned that it needed vacuuming and Austin got very excited about the vaccum, so I got the vacuum out and Austin "helped" me vaccum.

We're looking forward to heading to Nanny and Grandpa's house tomorrow and celebrating Thanksgiving with family on Thursday. We'll head home on Friday since I'm on call in the PICU Saturday into Sunday.

Happy Thanksgiving! (a little early). We're so thankful to have all our family and friends in our lives!
