Ah, the lovely picky eating habits of a toddler!
Austin has basically eaten not much other than broccoli for dinner for the past 3 or 4 nights. Broccoli tends to be one of the vegetables he tolerates the majority of the time. At dinner on the 3rd, we made broccoli with the meal as our vegetable. He basically refused to eat any of the rest of the meal, but downed his broccoli within minutes, shoving spoonfuls of broccoli in his mouth, and then repeatedly demanding more broccoli. After about 5 minutes of "more brocci, more brocci" (pronounced "brock - eee"), we figured there are worse things than broccoli for your toddler to demand. Steve gave him his serving of broccoli while I started cooking some more. He ate Steve's broccoli just as rapidly as his first serving and went on to have about 4 toddler sized servings of broccoli. I didn't think anyone would believe me when I related that my toddler was demanding broccoli for dinner, so I got out the video camera. Of course, as soon as Austin realized he was being taped, he decided to be adorable and charming while demanding...cookies! My little goofball. That was while the extra broccoli was cooking (which he ate as soon as it was done cooking). Here is a video of our "more broccoli" dinner. (For some reason the first few seconds of the video look really weird, but stay with it and it goes to normal quickly.)
A few other recent events...
While Steve's parents were here, Steve and his dad started working on staining and sealing the deck. It has been a race to get it done before the weather got too cold for the stain to dry appropriately. The weather was amazing last weekend, so they got a fair chunk of it done.
Here they are working on it with the last bit of light before sunset...
Austin got to help...
Other cuteness:
Austin in his striped sweater that is just like a sweater Uncle Kevin had when he was little.
Austin voted! Well not really, but he did come with us when we voted and he got his own "I Voted" sticker (plus mommy's), and he was very excited about his stickers. Here he is running around the house with his voting stickers...
Austin's birthday is on Sunday and we are very excited to celebrate with family this weekend. Stay tuned for an update on the birthday party!
