Quick Anniversary Trip

For our 13th wedding anniversary on July 9th, Steve and I took a quick weekend trip to see my cousin Kristin as the lead in "Legally Blonde" the musical at Round Barn Theater in Nappanee, IN.

I had to work Friday evening, so we flew out to Chicago on Saturday morning, drove to Nappanee, and checked into our hotel (which had the hilarious old school phones identical to the ones they had in our ND dorms 14 years ago).

Then we had a yummy "thresher's dinner" at the restaurant and headed over to the theater.  They had the lobby decorated for the show, with a "Harvard Law" banner, an animal print high heel shoe chair, and the show in lights.

She did a fantastic job and we stood up and cheered like crazy when she took her bows at the end (which got us some waves from the stage)!

After the show, we let her adoring fans clear, then got some time to catch up.

We are so proud of her!  It is so fun to see her doing what she loves (and is great at)!

We stayed overnight at the hotel in the worst bed we have ever encountered, but got to have breakfast with Kristin before driving back to the airport.  While we were gone, the kids stayed with Nanny and Grandpa and were excited to sleep in the bunk beds there!  We flew home on Sunday, and Grandpa picked us up while Nanny brought the kids home and made us dinner.  What a fun whirlwind of a weekend!
