Sarah's dance team competed in the Tribute National Talent Competition in Hopkins this past weekend.

Her team performed first on Saturday, so we had to be there super early when the doors opened at 6:45am. We had to have hair and makeup done before we got there, so I had to wake Sarah up really early to get her ready. I got up at 4:30am, got myself ready, then got Sarah up at 5am. She was excited for dance, but still tired!
Here is the "before" when I first got her up and dressed.
Grumpy Bear joined us for prep time.
I was happy to get her hair done in record time! (at least a record for me - hair was done 24 minutes after I woke up her!)Then makeup, including the difficult to apply fake eyelashes, was done before 6am, so we had time for a quick breakfast before loading up the Dream Duffel and heading to the competition.
Dressed and ready to go for her first dance of the morning.
First up was their tap dance "Boogie in the Barnyard" at 7:30am!
Backstage ready to go on and perform!
Then we got the girls changed and they got ready for their jazz dance, "Ducks Dance Too"
Cutest little ducks ever!
They did a great job on their dances. Our girls were done performing so early that we had a lot of time before awards in the afternoon. We got to sit in the audience and cheer for our studio's teams for a couple hours.
Then we all went out to lunch as a team.
It was a gorgeous sunny day with a little breeze and temps in the upper 60s. I was a little cool with the breeze, so I wore my CSDS jacket, but Sarah was warm and left her warm up jacket in the car. I didn't think of the sun on her pale skin and, by the time lunch was over, she had really sunburnt shoulders!
The girls had a blast together and we took a walk 4 blocks down from the restaurant to get treats at Amy's Cupcake Shoppe. Along the way, they found a duck on the sidewalk and had to pose with it (since they are little ducks in their dance!).
Enjoying some cupcakes before heading back to the competition for awards!
We headed back for awards and the kids gathered on stage. Our girls are in the front in this photo. Look how tired our little girls are! Waking up at 5am made for a long day for these petites!
In our team's division (Petite Honor Level), they got 5th place for their jazz dance and 1st place for their tap dance! Their teacher and choreographer, Lisa Broz, got the choreography award for their tap dance too! Here are Sarah's teammates accepting the awards for their team. Our 1st place is on the far left, another CSDS team was 3rd for their hip hop dance, and then our team was 5th place as well. Way to go CSDS teams!
The CSDS teams in this division after the awards! Good job dancers!
I headed home with my very sleepy girl nodding off in the back.
She is excited for another competition next weekend (and the weekend after that)!
