At 2 years old Trevor:
- Was measured at his 2 year well child checkup and weighed 29.2 lbs (64th percentile), was 36.3 inches tall (93rd percentile), and had a Head circumference 19.1 inches. BMI was 15.58 (21st percentile), so he's a lean little guy.
- Is wearing 2T clothing mostly, but now 3T footie jammies to be long enough.
- Eats most things. Pickier than Austin and Sarah were, but still eats a pretty good variety for a 2 year old.
- Likes to color with crayons (and likes markers even better if we let him use them – or he sneaks them!).
- Is talking like crazy in full sentences. He speaks pretty clearly for a 2 year old too!
- Says "please" and "thank you". Says "excuse me" when prompted. Started saying “I love you” shortly after his birthday. Sings the Happy Birthday song randomly. Calls his pacifier his “nooker” (got that from Grandpa’s term for it) and will often request “Nooker back!”. Talks about how his shoes light up (and has started putting them on by himself).
- Is starting to get sassy and demands things “right now!” He also is demanding independence - "MY do it!"
- “All done, Mommy” at dinner time is often followed by throwing food, plate, and cup on the floor. Then "please wipe me up!" Loves to beg for his "chocolate chip cookie", which is actually a chocolate chip Fiber One bar.
- Is a little goofball and knows when he is being silly. He will make funny faces to get you to giggle or will put on a mischievous grin before running off to cause trouble.
- Loves to mimic his big brother and sister. Is into “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” on Disney Jr. because Austin and Sarah just started watching it. He loves to play with them and gets involved in playing in the kitchen, playing cars and princesses, and playing with ships and fire trucks and all sorts of toys (even on his own quietly at times).
- Loves to look at books and now will (usually) sit with the big kids for story time before nap and bedtime. Is very into “Little Engine That Could” (aka “I think I can” or “little blue engine”), the series of books about the Pigeon (ex. “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus”), “Rumble in the Jungle”, “Cat in the Hat” (off and on), Cookie Monster/Elmo books (ex. Elmo fire truck, as he calls it), “Easy Street” and the series of 5 Little Monkey books. Likes to pick out the short board books of the Cinderella story from Sarah’s room for story time with the big kids (“boo Ella”). Also more and more interested in the longer stories and picture books that Austin and Sarah choose for story time.
- He also uses the cloth diapers as snuggle blankets and will get out extras and scatter multiple around the house. He usually wants to hold 3 of them when he goes to bed at night and then wants to be covered with his green blanket (either the fuzzy fleecy one or the monkey one). His toes have to be covered with that blanket while rocking in the rocking chair. He often asks to go in his crib, only to change his mind immediately and request rocking. We rock for a few minutes and then he squirms and asks to go in his crib. Usually, I tuck him in and say his bedtime prayer and he goes right to sleep. However, with the pacifier gone, we have had some difficult nights in which he screams and cries to be rocked more. He takes 1 good afternoon nap and sleeps well through the night most of the time. We have trouble getting him to take a nap if he has just fallen asleep in the car (even if only for 5 minutes!).
- He can climb in and out of his crib, but once he gets over the rail, the rest is a free fall, so into the crib lets him land on the mattress, but on the way out, he falls farther and lands on the floor. Thus, he has only climbed/fallen OUT of the crib when he is really upset and doesn’t realize he will fall. Otherwise, he stays in his crib until we come get him out. He loves to climb into Austin and Sarah’s big kid beds, and we're making plans for moving him into either a toddler bed or a twin bed soon when we shift around Austin’s bedding and let Trevor have Austin's cute car/truck/airplane quilt.
- Is Mr Mischief! Will get into trouble in seconds - dumping out whole cereal boxes on the floor; scaling the shelves in the playroom closet to get out markers and glue from the top shelf and getting them all over himself and the house; getting into the cleaning chemicals under the sink and dumping out a whole bottle of Goo Gone; pulling a kitchen chair over to reach a knife on a high counter cutting board; etc. etc. etc. We have to watch him every second! He also likes to jump off his changing table into my arms after I get him dressed. He pushes me in the chest and says “move back” and then jumps off with abandon. He also loves to tackle - usually Mommy.
- Gives GREAT hugs! Full of love and affection. Often comes running to give me a hug or kiss. Wraps his little arms around you and gives a good squeeze! Gives kisses and requests kisses on his owwies.
