Flag Football

Austin enjoyed playing flag football again this year.  It is fun to see the kids starting to learn the game more and put together plays.  Austin had a blast and was probably the most enthusiastic kid on the team.  He was on the royal blue team, which the team decided to name "Ice Cold".  It's hard to capture photos of him playing when there are so many kids clustered together on the field, but I caught a few fun shots.
Austin lining up for a play.
Going for the "tackle" (grabbing the flag).
Taking the handoff for a run.
Defense.
Chasing the runner down.  He had difficulty early on with diving for the flag and missing, but he got better at keeping with the runner and grabbing for the flag without diving.
Austin running the ball...
And running more...
All the way for a touchdown!
Taking a snap as quarterback.
And turning to hand off to his teammate.
Another great run for a touchdown!
His team at the last game (missing some teammates today).
Receiving his participation medal.
He had a great coach and really learned a lot this year.  Next year is still flag football, but after that it gets into tackle football and we'll have to decided if we want to let him continue.  This pediatrician Momma is worried about injuries (particularly head injuries) in football and Daddy has first hand experience with a severely broken leg from football, so we're hesitant to let him play when it gets more intense.

Cute little spectator through the weeks...
(As you can see, we had some significant variability in weather/temperature.)
Trevor also got a hold of the big camera and decided to take some photos too.
