Sarah is 7 months old today!
Check out those thighs!
Some updates about Sarah:
- She is really close to crawling. She gets up on her hands and knees and puts one knee forward, but doesn't yet have the reciprocal crawl figured out. She scoots all over the place though.
- She pulls herself up to a stand on her toys or on Mommy or Daddy. She hasn't pulled herself to a stand in her crib yet, but we put the crib mattress down just in case.
- She is babbling a lot and saying "mama" and "dada".
- She loves to smile and giggle.
- She is a little chunk! She has pretty much grown out of her 6 month old clothes and is now in mostly 9 month clothes. I bought her 12 month size for the fall becuase the size charts say 12 month size is usually about 20-23 pounds. Well she was almost 21 pounds at her 6 month check up on 8/10! My big girl!
- She wears size 3 diapers, but has been obliterating them and we have been on a hunt for diapers she won't pee through. She soaks her jammies and bed every night (at least once) and often pees through during naps too! We got the Huggies Overnight super absorbant diapers, but they don't make them in size 3, so we use size 4 overnights. We have discovered that Target brand diapers seem to be just as good as the more expensive ones and don't make her butt break out like Austin's did in the store brand diapers.
- Sarah is eating lots of baby foods now. She has oatmeal, stage 2 vegetables, fruits, and meats. She seems to like all of them, but favors sweet potatoes like her brother did.
- Sarah is one tough chick! Austin adores her, but is often too rough around her. He will just walk over to her and push her over. She doesn't mind...and sometimes even laughs at him. I also found him sitting on her leg the other day. She didn't care. She's gonna have to be tough to grow up with Austin around!
- Sarah has been having increasing trouble with eczema. You would think I was torturing her the way she screams when I cover her in Vanicream after her bath! Most of the problem is her drooling - her poor face is so raw!
- She has one tooth that came in on moving day. The second one is VERY close to coming through. She definitely drooling like crazy and putting everything in her mouth that she can get anywhere within a reachable radius.
Here is a video of Sarah trying to crawl...
OK, on to more photos...
See my little tooth?
My tummy is under there!
Austin was so excited to have his lunch in his lunch box the other day. This lunch box is a hand-me-down from cousin Christopher and he loves it! He puts toys in it to carry around the house usually, but that day, he insisted that he carry his lunch in there before eating it.
Sarah is learning how to use her spoon. She likes to chew on it while I feed her with another spoon, but she is doing pretty well with holding by the handle and getting it in her mouth.
My big girl! Standing up in her crib after we just lowered the mattress.
She likes playing with the pieces on her puzzle stool and pulling herself up on it to stand up.
We went exploring recently to get a feel for our new area and we found a big park. The other day, when the weather was gorgeous, I took the kids to the park to try it out. They LOVED it! Today, when we went back to the park, Austin ran into the park declaring "This is the best park I never saw." He seems to find other kids his age there to play with and has a blast running around, climbing, swinging, and generally getting really dirty!
That's what we've been up to lately. We are still trying to get life under control. Austin starts school next Tuesday! I'll be keeping busy studying for my upcoming board exam. Can't wait til that is over!
Lastly...a video from a couple weeks ago. I got Sarah giggling when I was changing her diaper...of course, she stopped when we got the camera running because she was so interested in the camera. Then Austin got in on the action and got tickled silly.
