Christmas Cookies!

Well, we made lots of Christmas cookies when we visited Nanny and Grandpa's to have Christmas with Michelle and Brian before they headed out to New York. However, after returning home with some of the cookies, they were quickly eaten and a week before Christmas, we no longer had Christmas cookies! Unacceptable! So Austin and I made some more sugar cookies with buttercream frosting. We had lots of fun, made a big mess, and ate lots of frosting along the way...

Austin LOVES the beaters. He likes to help with the mixer and then, of course, the best part...licking the beaters!

Hmm...how can I get all of this in my mouth?
Maybe if I just open my mouth really wide...
Ooooh, I can get lots more if I just scoop it up with my fingers...Yummy!
Time for sprinklesOf course, while I wait for Mommy to help put the frosting on the cookies, I'll just eat the ones that I already sprinkled. (Check out the bites out of the finished cookies on the right. hehehe)
We had lots of fun!

Life continues to be busy and I keep getting bigger. We had a checkup on Tuesday and baby girl still looks great! She is between 4 and 5 pounds estimated weight now, putting her about 60th or so percentile and about 1.5 weeks ahead of her gestational age by size. Only about 5 weeks until due date!

I spent the weekend packing up my office downstairs to make way for Austin's "big brother bedroom" which he will likely move to next week. We want him to have some time in his new room before baby sister comes and takes his current bedroom as her nursery. Hopefully, then he won't feel so displaced. We rented storage space nearby and Nanny and Grandpa, Kevin and Keng stopped by on their way back from Michigan to help us move the furniture and heavy boxes of books to our storage space. Thanks for the help! I had already probably done too much heavy lifting that weekend getting everything packed up and moving the boxes out of the room...I couldn't really walk by the end of the day Sunday due to bad back pain. All better now, though. Nesting, maybe? I can't wait to get the nursery all ready again. We even ordered replacement cushions for the glider rocker since the current bottom cushion is ripped open and spewing cushion fuzz everywhere. $220 for a set of replacement cushions! Ugh!

Austin is looking forward to Christmas. I'm not sure he quite understands, but we have been teaching him about Baby Jesus in our nativity and he even has a Veggie Tales nativity to play with. He seems to understand a bit of the Santa tradition, but only to the extent that he knows Santa brings toys to good boys and girls on Christmas. I have to work most of this week, but if all goes well, I should have Christmas day off. We'll spend Christmas morning here in our own home and then we'll head up to the Twin Cities to celebrate with family. The weather doesn't seem to be cooperating, as we're getting 2-3 days of nasty weather including ice, sleet, and snow mixed together. Oh well. We're Minnesotans! We can handle it.

Have a wonderful Christmas everybody! Pictures of our festivities to follow in the week to come...
