Happy 4th of July!

We had a great weekend in the Twin Cities for the 4th of July. I got out of the hospital post-call on July 3 around 10am and we got packed and headed up to Eden Prairie for a dentist appointment for Austin and I. I had to get my molar filling fixed and Austin had some teeth discoloration from his Augmentin to polish off. Austin hated the dentist office, but did pretty well anyway and we were sent home with some abrasive cleaner stuff to use on his teeth with a Qtip. He (amazingly) has been really good about letting me use it on his teeth. My mouth was numb for much of the day, and we just spent most of the rest of the day relaxing and playing. I even got to go get my sore neck and back fixed up by Dr. Ecklund!

We went to the golf club for dinner and Austin was really good for a long time, but the food took forever to come out, so by the time it did come out, he was cranky and not feeling well. He had only eaten bread and drank his milk, but something didn't sit right, because he laid on my shoulder whimpering for a little while, and then threw up on me once we got up to leave to take him home. My poor baby! He perked up once we got him home, bathed him, and gave him some fruit and cookies in his high chair.

On Friday, the fourth, we had a leisurely morning playing with Austin and hanging around in our jammies. Here is nanny bouncing Austin on her exercise ball. He would giggle with glee and then proclaim, "again!" whenever the bouncing stopped.

He then moved on to nanny's computer. He loves to roll the scroller on the mouse and push buttons on the keyboard. When I looked at this picture, I couldn't believe how much it reminded me of pictures of Kevin at this age....maybe Austin is starting to look more like my side of the family!
(Doesn't this look like Kev at that age?)

More fun and silliness...
Playing on Grandpa's recliner.

Playing on the neighbors' swingset...

Then Michelle and Brian came over and we took Austin to the park and played with sparklers out front.

Then we had a yummy dinner, and after Austin went to bed, we had a family dominos game, with a break to watch the 7 or so sets of fireworks visible from mom and dad's bedroom window.

On the 5th, we headed over to Jenna and Michael's for a kiddie pool party. Austin and Alexis had a great time playing in the pool. Just like in the bathtub, Austin loved pouring water from one bucket or cup to another.

At one point, he started dumping the water on his own head...until Michael got into the pool and became a new target....
Nobody felt too bad for Michael, though, since he had been the one squirting everybody with water guns all day (except people that had cameras...then you're safe!).

Later, we had supper and lots of yummy desserts, then a bit more playtime.

Yummy chocolate cupcakes!
Way up high!

Kisses for GiGi!
Then bath time for the kiddos before heading home.

Austin had his first real bubble bath this past week. Before, we would wash him up with his baby wash and then rinse him off and fill the tub with clean clear water without the bubbles. We figured he was big enough to have a real bubble bath full of bubbles, so we got some Mr. Bubbles and gave it a shot. He did eat some of the bubbles, but in general, he loved it and had fun trying to mush the bubbles between his hands and declaring "bubbles!" triumphantly.
