End of Summer and First Day of School!

August was a busy month!  We last left off after Trevor's 2nd birthday party.  The next weekend was his actual birthday, but we he doesn't know how to read a calendar, so we celebrated a week early so Steve and I could go to a wedding in Chicago the weekend of his actual birthday.  The 3 kids stayed with Nanny and Grandpa while Steve and I drove to Chicago on Friday.  We met up with the bride and groom and their families for dinner on Friday once we arrived in Chicago.  The wedding on Saturday wasn't until 7pm, so we had the whole day to spend doing whatever we wanted.  Steve was pretty excited to check out the biggest and most complete T. Rex ever discovered, so we rented bikes and biked down Lake Shore Drive bike path to get to the Field Museum.

It was a very foggy morning!
We saw a 3D movie at the museum.
Checked out "Sue"
And saw some of the other exhibits, including a cool biomechanics exhibit and the mummies and artifacts in the Egypt exhibit.
We caught our images on an infrared camera and confirmed that Steve is hot!
It says that your nose and hands show up purple (cooler) because they are peripheral and don't have as much blood flow.  Steve's hands, however, were totally white (hot).
Then we biked back to our hotel (The Drake Hotel - very fancy!), but by the time we were heading back, it was pouring rain!  We biked back anyway and were soaked by the time we arrived back at the hotel.  It was fun!  We got ready for the wedding and headed over.  It was on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building and there was a beautiful view over the city.
The happy couple.
(I don't have the photo credit, but I swiped the above photo from Facebook and I'm assuming this is by their photographer.)

Wedding cake.
All cleaned up after our ride in the rain.
The happy groom awaiting his bride.
 Yay! Married!
Beautiful to watch the sun set over the city.

The next weekend was even busier!  I started rounds on Saturday and had to round on 7 babies and do a procedure before making it to clinic by 9 am.  Clinic went until noon and then I had to rush home, get myself and the kids dressed and ready to go to Elizabeth's wedding in St. Paul.  We made it on time and had a fun, busy day.   Elizabeth was a gorgeous bride (inside and out) and the wedding was beautiful.
I was so busy keeping the kids happy and quiet during the wedding and chasing them around during the reception that I didn't take a single photo!  The above photo, again, is swiped from Facebook and is from their wedding photographer (sorry for the lack of photo credit).

The next day, we got to enjoy some more time with family that were in town for the wedding.  We had a brunch at Aunt Jeannie's house, attempted a nap for the kids at home (unsuccessfully), then headed to Auntie Trish's for dinner (while Daddy was working hard for our school at the booth at the Renaissance festival).  I had to round in the morning again too, so it was a crazy busy weekend.  By Monday, we were all exhausted and had a day at home to rest up.

Tuesday was Austin's first day of school!  He is in 2nd grade now!  He has Mrs. Stack for a teacher and says she is the best teacher in 2nd grade.
Trevor wanted in on pictures too.
Ready to head to the bus.

Sarah is in her 2nd year of preschool and will be going on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, so her first day of school wasn't until Wednesday (since Monday was the Labor Day holiday). She has Mrs. Judd for her teacher again this year. Wednesday was definitely darker and wetter outside!
Austin photobombed her on this one.

Time to sign in.
The kids have enjoyed school so far and we're looking forward to a great year!
