Sarah's First Dance Recital

Sarah started taking dance class this fall.  We were not planning to enter the world of studio dance, as I am a wee bit intimidated by it and scared of the "dance moms" phenomenon that seems to be prevalent in our culture recently.  Sarah started playing dance lessons with her Care Bears.  If the girl is independently pretending to teach her bears to dance, I figured it was time to offer her a try at dance lessons.  She loves it and has so much fun!  We found a studio that tries hard to maintain age appropriate attire, music, etc. and has viewing windows (that look like a mirror on the other side) that allow parents to watch each lesson instead of only getting to watch 1 lesson a session. It has been a fun experience so far and is something Sarah has that is just for her. She gets dragged to all of Austin's activities, so it is about time she gets to do her own sport!

This past weekend, Sarah had her first recital!  It was so cute! Her group is a preschool group made up of 3 and 4 year olds and they have a recital just for the preschoolers (so they're not in the big involved recital the rest of the studio puts on in a big venue).  This one is just for the little ones and took place at the studio in one of the large combined studio rooms.

The theme was "Winter Wonderland," but Sarah refused to wear her mittens, scarf, etc. and just stuck to her little pink dance dress.  It was absolutely adorable!  Check out some photos and a video of her dance performance.

She got a certificate and a medal after her performance.
Trevor was smiling, giggling, and clapping during the recital, but was less than happy afterward.
Auntie Michelle, Uncle Brian, Nanny and Grandpa, Mommy and Daddy, and Austin and Trevor were all there to support her.  Hugs from her godparents...

The next day, we had Austin's basketball "fan day" and I got some photos, but I'm still messing with the camera settings to get clear photos in the gym.  I got some tips on how to get better shots without them getting so blurry, so hopefully I'll have some great shots to share after his tournament next weekend.  He gets really into the game and was SO excited to score a basket on Sunday!
