Little Goofball Geniuses

It has been a busy last week or so as we've had our landscaping project underway and completed.  More to come on that later with before and after photos.  In the mean time, some fun with the kids!
Superhero Austin!
Nice shades, babe!
Sarah, my little goofball...she adores her big brother despite his roughness and even cruelty at times.  When he is sitting in time out (usually for something he did to her) and he is upset or crying, she will go give him hugs and kisses.  In this photo, she went over and hugged him, then sat on his lap while he bounced her on his knees and they both giggled like crazy.
Then they moved on to climbing into Austin's chair and being silly.
We had everybody over for Kevin and Michelle's birthday over the weekend and Nanny cooked a yummy supper for us all.
Sarah enjoyed looking at photo albums with Grandpa and Auntie Michelle.
Barry popped over to Nanny's and fixed her furnace, then joined us for supper.  We still like Tammy despite her wearing a Michigan sweatshirt over just to annoy us.

Fun with Uncle Brian!
The birthday girl showing off her birthday "cake" (Boston cream pie). Yum!
Austin "helping" open presents.
We then proceeded to watch a nice Irish victory in a game that was (dare I say it) a bit boring!

Now on to some cute videos...  The kids are growing up so fast!

Sarah being silly with Daddy one night.  She was singing "da daaaa, da daaaa, da daaaa...blablbalalba" over and over again and giggling at herself.  Goofball!

Sarah knows her ABCs!  The other day at the library, I took Sarah with me to look for a book in the grown up section while Austin played a Curious George game on the computer in the kids' section.  I said a few letters under my breath while looking for a book in order of author....as soon as I stopped, Sarah filled in the next letter!  I didn't know she knew her ABCs.  I tried out a few other letters and each time I stopped, she would fill in the next letters.  When I think about it, it make sense that she'd pick up the ABCs early. When she was a young infant, she was calmed and soothed by singing to her and the song that always calmed her down was singing the ABCs (or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, although despite being the same melody, it didn't work as well as ABCs!).  My little smartie pants!

And Austin can READ!  He's been reading for a while now, but I had no idea he could read so well because he was usually reading books that he had seen before or books that we had read to him at least once before.  I didn't know he could read so well on his own! We got some books at the library the other day and after dinner, he got out a book and just started reading it.  He still stumbles over some words here and there, but he is definitely reading some complex words and sentences on his own.  Another little smartie pants!  Nanny is gonna threaten to call MENSA again!

That's all for now.  I'll put up a post with before, during, and after photos from our landscaping project. It looks great!
