Mischief, treats, playtime, new developments, and family times!
Here we go...
Sarah discovered the Sam's Club size box of Cinnamon Cheerios in the pantry, dragged it out into the kitchen, got it open, lugged the big bag out of the box, yanked off the clip holding the bag closed (and held it up triumphantly), then chowed down.
Austin got in on the action too.
Later, we made Rice Krispie treats and Austin counted out each of the large marshmallows and pointed out the words he could read on the recipe. Playtime!

(Check out Sarah in the background. She wants in on it too.)
Sarah loves the empty spice jars from the kitchen and carries them around taking the lids on and off.
She also pours a cup of tea and pretends to sip it or brings it to me to "drink".
Other playtime fun...
My handsome boy!
I think Sarah is working on some molars...she keeps getting her finger back there.
In other wonderful news...
Austin FINALLY went poop on the potty! It's about time!
We have been using every incentive we can think of to try to get him to go #2 on the potty, but were unsucessful. Recently, we have been trying using a "Cars" sticker chart and tiered incentives (promise of stickers sent in the mail from Dr. Judy, Grinch and Max stuffed animals he is really interested in, and a trip to the toy store with Nanny and with Mommy and Daddy). For a while...no interest. Last weekend, he was dancing around like he needed to go, so I suggested he go on the potty. Usually that is met with refusal. This time, he said he's try and off he went. I encouraged him and bribed him. I said that if he made a stool in the potty that we could bake cupcakes together that evening. He actually went! Yes, I am one of those moms...I took pictures! I will spare you those. But here is Austin enjoying his cupcakes.
Sarah enjoyed the cupcakes thoroughly too.
Austin earned his Grinch stuffed animal as a prize. The problem is that Sarah is obsessed with it too. She hugs him around the neck and carries him around with her. Austin usually snatches it away when he catches her with it, but when he's at preschool, she gets to play with it more.
They do play together well at times. The other day, they had lots of fun rolling a car back and forth to each other in the kitchen. Smiles all around!
(p.s. Check out the adorable outfit from cousin Elizabeth)
As a special treat for Austin, I took him snow tubing on Thursday (before the hill closed for the season today!). We went to a tubing hill with manicured lanes with berms on the edges so that you don't run into other people (or trees!). The website said you get going up to 20-30 miles per hour and I believe it. These hills were big and the tubes went really fast. We had a blast! Austin was in heaven and we stayed for the whole 2 hours of our lift ticket.
Austin pulling his tube.
He was actually pretty independent once he tried going down the hill a couple times alongside me. He still had to go with me on the biggest hills, but he went down by himself on some of the smaller ones.
Check out the great tubing area...that little speck in the middle is Austin going over the lip of a big drop off.
All smiles!
Here is a video of Austin going down the hill. I slid alongside him and held on to his tube with one hand while taking video with the other hand. This shows how fast we got going and shows how much FUN Austin had!On a more somber note...
My "Nanny" Geraldine Ament went home to heaven on Thursday, March 3. She was angel that we were blessed to borrow for so long, but she belonged back in heaven. We will miss her, but never forget her. The weekend before she passed away, we gathered as a family to say our goodbyes. What a day filled with love and togetherness!
The kids didn't really understand what was going on, but they were incredibly well behaved amidst all the stress and activity of the week. Austin was patient and calmer than usual and Sarah was smiley despite missed naps.
