Checkups

Sarah and Austin had their well child visits today.  They're both growing beautifully.  They're recovering from their illnesses that popped up last week. Sarah's ear infection is looking better and Austin's pink eye is gone and his cold is resolving.  Austin got some cool bandaids for his doctor bag and Nurse Lisa even found some Candyland stickers for him.  He also got to pick a prize from the toy basket too.  He did his hearing and vision screening, but it wasn't clear whether he just wasn't fully participating in the vision screening or whether he actually couldn't see totally clearly, so given our poor vision family history (especially me), we'll have Austin's eyes checked by a peds ophthalmologist at some point to be sure.

The kids are still on the top of the growth chart.   Austin is now 43.4 pounds and 43 inches tall.  That equates to 92nd percentile for weight and 94th percentile for height.  Sarah is now weighing in a 23.35 pounds (95th percentile). She's 30.6 inches tall (99th percentile) and her head circumference is 18.4 in (97th percentile).  Dr. Judy drew a line across on the growth chart to show that Sarah is now the height of an average 16 month old!

We also got Austin's school picture back today and it turned out great.  I think it's probably copyright infringement to scan it, otherwise I would put it up on the blog.  Instead, here are some other cute photos from the last couple days.

Austin got a Little Einstein "laptop" game for his birthday.  He calls it his "super duper computer" like on Super Why.  He decided that he would sit at my desk in my office to "work" on his computer like he sees me working on my laptop from work.
We got Sarah her first pair of tennis shoes and they are just too cute!  She was very excited.
Going for a walk in her new shoes...
She later tried to eat her shoes, then looked at me with her little smile that says "Hi Mommy! I'm cute and I know it!"
Today, she had fun exploring the kitchen.  She likes to climb under her high chair.
She also likes to grab the camera, so when she sees that the camera may be within reach (like when I'm sitting on the floor taking her picture), she makes a beeline for it.
I found the fridge phonics in a box downstairs and Austin and Sarah had fun playing with letters together (actually on the dishwasher, not the fridge).
I also found our little Pooh train and car that Austin had when he was little.  Austin and Sarah had lots of fun exploring these "new" toys.
Austin even gave Sarah a ride around the room on the Pooh train.  She liked it at first, then decided she wasn't so sure about it.
Sarah is getting so good at standing up and she walks with her hands held.  Now, she stood up, held on to the handle on the back of the Pooh car and started walking around pushing the car around the room.  It won't be long before she's walking!  Austin took his first steps around this age and she's really close.

That's it for now.  We've got a busy next couple weeks coming up, but we are looking forward to enjoying some down time this upcoming weekend before the busy times ahead.
