Meeting Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa

This past weekend, we headed to Michigan in a whirlwind trip to bring Sarah to meet her great-grandparents. Steve had to stay here and work, as he is in the thick of the busy tax season and working 6 days a week. I had an extremely difficult day with the kids getting everything ready to head out. Austin was just being a little terror and Sarah was fussy and struggling with a stuffy nose and goopy eye from a cold she got from Austin. When Nanny and Grandpa got here for us all to head out on the trip, Austin was in time out, Sarah was screaming, and all I could claim about my day was that I had only cried twice. Ugh! But we made it out the door and set off on our trip.

Nanny and Grandpa, Auntie Michelle, the kids and I headed out on Friday afternoon. The drive went really well, basically because our neighbor Amy let us borrow her portable DVD player again and Austin watched movies most of the way. Sarah slept most of the drive and we just had to stop every few hours for me to take her out of her car seat to feed her. We got in pretty late (~1am our time) and it took a while to get Austin settled in.

On Saturday, Sarah got to meet her Great-Grandparents.

Hanging out with Auntie Michelle - and wearing the Notre Dame onesie Michelle got her. Then we headed over to the nursing home where Grandma is staying for hospice care.

Meeting Great-Grandma
Grandma was so happy to hold her new great-grandchild. She has some bad days and some OK days. It sure seemed to make her day to see us, so it made the trip all worth it. She was feeling "fair" when we visited her this weekend, but seems to have wasted away quite a bit since I last saw her a few months ago. We continue to pray for more good days than bad days and hope that she is at peace and comfortable as much as possible.

Four generations come together
Our cousin Melanie came up from college at Notre Dame to visit for the day.
Here is Grandpa with 2 gorgeous girls - his granddaughters Melanie and Michelle.
Then we hit the road again on Sunday to drive back. Again, the kids did great in the car. However, traveling with 2 young kids is never easy and we were thoroughly exhausted upon our return.

Can you tell nobody loves this kid?
She is certainly adored!

Next up, another trip up to the Twin Cities next Sunday to show Steve the favorites from my house hunting trip last week and see a few more. We're still waiting and hoping that someone will want to come see our house (and even better...want to buy it). We've just dropped the price another $10,000 and Match Day is coming up in a couple weeks, so hopefully our house's activity will pick up.

Check out the ladybug outfit from Jody.
Matching adorable socks and all!
