Snowy October

I'm not sure what's going on with the weather. I heard from somebody that so far this is the coldest Minnesota October on record. All I know is that it has been way too cold for fall. I feel like we totally missed the beautiful fall weather we usually get. We had Austin's 3 year photos scheduled for October 14th, thinking we would be able to do them outside and have some fun fall leaves to play in and some nice fall colors for scenery...but alas, the day of his photos it was 30 degrees and there was frost/snow on the ground. We moved his photos indoors and they turned out great! I'll be getting the CD of all the pictures in the next few days and will post some favorites when I get them.

The yucky weather has continued and yesterday started out as rain, but ended up snowing most of the day and leaving a few inches of snow behind. It is melting today, but the forecast doesn't show much better weather in the forecast.

We've been doing OK. Both Austin and I got sick this week. Austin has a little cough, but is otherwise doing well. I got a pretty nasty cough and cold with some trouble breathing. Every time I cough, I have to reassure those around me that I don't have the H1N1 flu. Because I'm a pediatrician, I've been exposed to the H1N1 flu so many times, I wouldn't be surprised if I got it, but this illness doesn't really fit the symptoms for that. I got my vaccine, so hopefully I'll be protected in the coming months. We're just laying low this weekend and resting.

Here are a few cute pictures from this week...

Austin has taken the imitation of story time with Mr. Peter to the next level. He now brings his step stool from his bedroom out into the living room, puts on his fire fighter hat, puts his books on the floor next to him, reads a few books to us, sings Baby Beluga, and then passes out pretend balloons...all in imitation of how Mr. Peter runs story time.
And here's my big boy in his big boy underpants.
Austin is doing really pretty well with going in the potty. He manages to stay dry in between most of the time and now usually only wears a diaper for naptime and bedtime. He's still working on #2, but he's got time to master that. We are seemingly spending more on diapers right now, though, because now Austin has decided that he doesn't like to be in a wet diaper, so if we put him down for bed in an overnight diaper and he pees in the diaper, he won't go to bed until we change him. So at bedtime, we end up going through 3 or 4 overnight diapers some nights before he'll go to sleep (and overnight pull ups are even more expensive than regular pull ups). We're hoping this changes soon!

We had a checkup for baby girl yesterday. She looks good and is growing and developing well. We have another check up in a month and our next level 2 ultrasound in about 6 more weeks.
