Austin and I spent the weekend at Nanny and Grandpa's while Steve flew to Tennessee to see his friends there and attend his 10 year high school reunion. Steve had a fun weekend away and Austin and I kept very busy at Nanny and Granda's house.
Before we left, Austin finally earned his "potty prize" by making a pee pee on the potty. He was very proud of himself and knew that it meant he got his prize. It was a LarryMobile, featuring the LarryBoy hero from Veggie Tales. He LOVES it!
On Friday, we headed up to the Twin Cities and dropped Steve off at the airport that evening. Saturday brought an action packed day.
Austin ready for game day in his new Notre Dame jersey.
First, Austin got his hair cut. He behaved so well! He didn't want to get up in the chair, but once he did, he was a little angel. He sat patiently watching her cut his hair and even sat still while she buzzed around his ears (the hardest part before). When she put the water on his hair to scissor cut the top, he thought it was really funny because he had "spikey hair."
Then on to the blow dryer...always fun!
Then Ann and "Baby John" (as Austin calls him) came over to visit.
Austin and John played very well together and had lots of fun!
John just turned 1! Happy Birthday John!
Isn't he adorable?

Then naptime...my sleepy boy.

Saturday afternoon...Notre Dame Football!! GO IRISH!

Austin learned how to do the touchdown sign and yell "TOUCHDOWN!" He had ample opportunity to do so on Saturday. GO IRISH!
Then on Sunday, we enjoyed some time at the Maple Grove Community Center pool with Jenna, Trish, and Alexis.
Nanny and Grandpa took him in the pool and he had an absolute blast splashing, sliding, jumping, and being thrown in the air...
Sunday evening, Kevin and Keng, Kev's friend Jonah and his wife Chelsea came over for dinner and dominos. Monday, we hung around Nanny and Grandpa's and got to see Michelle and Brian when they got back to Minnesota from their trip to Notre Dame for the game. After supper, Austin and I headed home.
This morning, Austin had his first day of "school" for the new school year. We go to ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) classes...kinda like preschool for younger kids with an included parent education/discussion group while the kids play and learn with the teachers. He was very excited to watch the bus go by this morning for the older kids and then go to school at the big kids' school too. The only problem is that I broke the garage door on the way out of the garage to take him there. We fixed it later, but it was not a good start to the morning.
Then Nanny brought Daddy home from the Minneapolis airport and stayed to watch Austin while we went to baby girl's anatomy ultrasound.
The news is mixed...
The bleed, while it is moderate to large in size, is pretty well contained in a pocket between the amnion and the chorion. It is actually not even next to the placenta anymore, as it has moved away a bit as the uterus has grown with the baby. It doesn't look concerning at this point.
Baby is growing well and all her little baby parts look good. However...there is something there that shouldn't be. We're not quite sure what it is, but there is an abnormal cystic structure behind and lower than her bladder, but in front of her spine. Odds are that it is an ovarian cyst, in which case, it would go away on its own and not be a concern. There are other possibilities, such as internal spina bifida or sacrococcygeal teratoma. Both of those would be concerning, but the other signs associated with those are not present at this point. The lower extremities, spine, and brain look normal, which makes spina bifida less likely. There is no blood flow noted to the cyst, and some metabolic activity and blood flow would be expected if it were a teratoma. So right now, we just wait and have another level 2 ultrasound in 4 weeks (10/7). If it has gone away, great! If it is bigger or looks different in a concerning way, then we may need more imaging (like an MRI) to try to figure out what it is. Then we make plans from there.
Until then, here are some pictures of our little one...
