Transportation Fair and other outdoor fun!

On Saturday, we went to the Transportation Fair! There were all kinds of transportation for the kids to explore. It was a cold, windy day, but still was lots of fun.
Austin climbed up in the fire truck...

And got to ride in a balloon basket as the burner was fired. He thought that was "pretty cool" and was full of big smiles whenever the burner went off (though I admit he does look a little distressed in this picture).Hanging out in the ambulance.
Driving the UPS truck...And then the race car..,
Peeking out the window of the ice cream truck. School bus!!
With daddy on a big tow truck.

The sucker he got at the ice cream truck kept him occupied
while we waited in line for some of the other trucks.
We even happened to find Soren when the boys ended up driving one of the trucks together.Excited to run to the next truck...Once he had explored most of the vehicles, Austin had some play time at the park there. It was a fun outing, despite the cold windy weather. We look forward to going again next year! (though hopefully next year it will be a bit warmer)

Then it was back on call again on Sunday. This afternoon, I was home post-call and even though I had a sleepless night, it was way too nice outside to pass up some outdoor playtime with Austin.

We have been wanting to get Austin a bubble blowing lawnmower since he is so intrigued by daddy's lawnmower. Today, Daddy found one on sale at Toys R Us and Austin had fun "mowing" the lawn today...

Then it was off to the park for some time on the swings.
Austin LOVES swinging and will swing for an hour if we let him.
Here are some of the giggles we get out of him when swinging...
My little daredevil can walk along this curvy bar on his own, holding onto the side bars. It took us a while to let him actually do it on his own, but he insisted "Austin do it myself!" so after assuring ourselves that he actually is really stable and steady doing it on his own, we let him.
And of course, the bouncy fire chief car is always a favorite!
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the weather thoroughly. Now time for some sleep!

p.s. We are still working on potty training, but we're taking it slowly. We have both a little potty (which we primarily use with him) and a small Sesame Street potty seat that goes on top of the regular toilet. He does better with sitting on the potty, but thought it was pretty cool to brush his teeth while sitting on the big toilet after his bath the other day. Now if only we could get him to actually pee in the potty!
