On Wednesday after Austin's nap, Nanny came to keep Austin occupied while Steve and I took apart Austin's crib and put up his big boy bed!
Sleeping in his crib. He almost reaches all the way from one end to the other.
Here he is with puppy sleeping in his crib for the last night.
He looks so big in his crib now...
Compared to when he first slept in his crib...
Yay! Big boy bed!
Austin was very excited about his big boy bed. He exclaimed "BED!" and climbed up right away. He jumped on it, laid down and sucked his thumb, climbed up and down, and threw the pillows at us. He loved it!
The first night, he went to sleep well in his new bed. He's not used to having a sheet or blanket other than his "beebee" (his blankie), so he didn't want the sheet or blanket on him. When we checked on him an hour or so later, he had flipped himself around and was laying on the sheet, blanket, and quilt at the end of the bed. We flipped him back around, but before we went to bed for the night, he was flipped around again. Then around 5:15am, I awoke hearing a series of thunks from the other room. I had a little panic feeling for a moment, and I went into his room to find him sitting on the floor by the opening at the top of the bed, sucking his thumb, holding his blanket. When he saw me come in, he started crying. I think he fell out of bed trying to get the big blue teddy bear sitting beside the bed. I picked him up, snuggled him in the rocker for a minute, then asked if he wanted to go back in his bed. He said "Okay!" and grinned.
Apparently, he does a good job staying in his bed for nap time, though it took a little longer for him to go to sleep today. Tonight, after his bath, I brushed his teeth and got his jammies on as usual. We usually sit on the couch to put his jammies on and then I carry him back to his room and we sit in the rocker and read stories before bed. Tonight, though, he was so excited about his new bed, that as soon as his jammies were on, he jumped off my lap and ran down the hall to his bed, excitedly exlaiming "Bed! Ni-night!". He loves his pillow (aka "popo"). He was so excited to go to bed, that he didn't even want to read stories (which he loves!). It's adorable to see how much he loves his new bed! I just hope he doesn't fall out too much!
Here he is sleeping tonight in his big boy bed...
He looks so much smaller in such a big bed. My baby boy!

We ordered something online and when it was delivered, it came in a box full of packing peanuts. Austin thought the box and packing peanuts were the best toy! He had a blast climbing in the box, covering himself with packing peanuts, throwing them in the air, and even trying to stick them in his ears! Ah, who needs toys when you've got boxes and packing material?

Last week, Austin got to play ON the pool table at Nanny and Grandpa's house. He had lots of fun pushing the balls around and dropping them in the pockets.

That's all for now. Gramma and Grandpop arrive next Thursday for the Halloween weekend! Then the weekend after that is Austin's 2nd birthday! He's growing up so fast!
