Oxbow Park and Zoo

Today we took Austin to Oxbow Park and Zoo just west of Rochester and had a great time meeting the animals. They have otters, coyotes, a cougar, a wolf, a bear, red and gray foxes, prairie dogs, a badger, porcupines, an owl, a goat, a horse, a donkey, cows, deer, bison, elk and more.
A big black bear!
Pointing to the cougar.
Coyote
Chickens!

Meeting the goat and helping mommy give him an acorn. At one point when the goat was on the other side of the fence, Austin tried to stick his head through the fence to give the goat a kiss.
Turkey...gobble, gobble!

Austin had a great time feeding a big deer! He was a little timid at first and needed some help from mommy to get close enough to give the deer some leaves to eat, but very quickly, he was so excited about it, he forgot he was scared. Here he is feeding the deer some leaves from the nearby trees.
All smiles!
Again! Again!
Tired boy! Time to go "bye bye home." (This is in the log cabin from 1850.)

Other recent pics...

Austin LOVES dogs! He calls all dogs "puppy" and whenever he sees a puppy, he blows kisses and says "puppy! puppy! puppy!" He looks for puppies in his books and counts how many puppies he can see on a page. He was particularly focused on puppies on Thursday afternoon, and I remembered that I have a stuffed animal dog tucked away in the closet from many years ago, so I got it out and gave it to Austin. He adores the puppy and carries him around, hugs and kisses him, plays with him, reads to him, and even plays pat-a-cake with him.
Hugs for puppy.
And kisses for puppy.
Carrying him wherever he goes.
Taking puppy on a ride on the Pooh train.
One more smiley pic...
