Over the 4th of July weekend, we headed to Milwaukee, WI for Trevor's fencing Summer Nationals!
Trevor competed in Y12 in his last year in this age group and he did a great job!

Trevor found YEL on the banner listing all the clubs and teams present.
Trevor had an extremely tough pool!
He did quite well for such tough opponents though. He lost 1 bout 3-5, won the next one 5-2, barely lost the next one 4-5, lost the next 2 bouts 1-5 against top ranked fencers, then won another bout 5-3.
After pools, he was ranked 177th out of 274 fencers.
In direct elimination, he went up against the #79 seed and he won 15-3!!
In the next round, he started off ahead then the other fencer caught up to him when it was about 10-10, then they traded touches pretty consistently until the end when Trevor just barely lost 13-15. That fencer who eliminated him ended up placing 16th!
Trevor ended at 125th place out of 274 fencers. Nice work Trev!
It is hard to take photos while I am video recording his bouts for follow up video reviews, but I grabbed a few photos.
Now that Trevor will be turning 13 soon, he is out of the Y12 age group for this coming season, but into all the older age groups now! He will be competing in Y14, Cadet (age 13-16), Junior (13-19), Division 1A, Division 2, and Division 3 (age 13 and up). It is going to be a busy year of going to regional tournaments and working to qualify for Summer Nationals next year in Portland, OR. Trevor is also old enough now (7th grade) to compete in the Minnesota State High School League fencing tournaments and will likely do 1 main season tournament to qualify for the state finals.
It is going to be a wild ride!
