Waiting for Spring

While making it through our record snowfalls and cold temperatures this winter, we had some fun along the way.  Here are some random fun pics from the last month or so.

It has been 20 years since I was a senior at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School and was dancing on the Knightettes Dance Team.  We won the state tournament in Jazz that year and the BSM Dance Team has qualified for the state tournament for 20 consecutive years since then.  To celebrate, they invited alumni dancers back for a reunion, reception, and presentation of this years' team before they head off to state.  Ann and I brought our little dancers to the reunion.
Current and alumni dancers together.
 Alumni Knightettes
Sarah and I made it to the Friday night state jazz finals to cheer on BSM!  They got 2nd place (by only 3 points out of 800!) and did an incredible job!
Steve was working on Saturday, so I brought all 3 of the kids to the high kick preliminaries.  Their dance had an "around the world" theme, so we had fun with flags from different countries as we cheered them on.
Ann was able to join us there on Saturday too!
We had fun cheering on BSM and also getting to see a lot of the dancers from Sarah's dance studio dancing on the Prior Lake team.

School had various dress up days recently, and Trevor really got into it.  For "lumberjack day" they could dress like a lumberjack or Babe the Blue Ox.  Trevor went lumberjack and Sarah wore blue to be his ox.
Trevor also fashioned a pirate costume out of his bathrobe, a burp cloth ("beebee"), and his pirate hat and eye patch.
For the 100th day of school, the Kindergarteners wear a shirt with 100 things on it.  Trevor's shirt had 100 puzzle pieces on it.
Valentine's Day cookies from Gramma and PopPop.
Dr. Seuss week at school for Trevor. Lorax mustaches.
The Cat in the Hat came to visit.

Austin made a project for the 6th grade science fair.  He tested the buoyancy of an egg by determining if an egg would sink or float in different concentrations of a salt water solution.
The fair judges checking out Austin's project.
Austin won 2nd place in his category. He was bummed that he didn't get to go to the regional science fair (only the first place in each category get to go), but because the regional fair is during spring break, the first place winners couldn't go and he gets to go after all. He'll show his project there on April 6th.  Here are the winners with their science fair medals.

Once basketball tournaments were done taking up weekends and dance competitions haven't started yet, we had a fun family Sunday.  We went to church, then had brunch at the Original Pancake House, before heading to the Orpheum Theater for the touring Broadway musical of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."  It was a fun day (even though they look pained in this photo - they said they were squinting at the sun).
Now we're on to spring!  The weather changed quickly from record snow to high temps in the mid-40s, so everything is melting quickly.  Sarah's dance competitions start up soon and soccer will be ramping up soon too.
