Sarah participated in the Little Dribblers basketball program at school. She definitely has the height for basketball! She enjoyed playing basketball with her school friends and learning some new skills. It was fun to watch her play and learn!
It has been a very warm February! We hit some record highs this month with temperatures getting up to as high as 63 degrees here! In February! In Minnesota! All the snow melted and we had fun getting outside to enjoy the weather. Austin was shooting hoops on the driveway, Sarah hopped on her bike, and Trevor revived the Cozy Coupe (even though he is too big for it now). Steve started busy season (aka tax season) and influenza has arrived (making work pretty busy for me!). I didn't grab too many photos this month, but here is a random smattering of what we have been up to.
Austin and I worked on his Harry Potter puzzle. We're missing a piece!
We got some frozen yogurt treats at Cherry Berry.
We saw "Fancy Nancy: the Musical" at Stages Theater.
Trevor had fun getting spiky hair at his hair cut.
Because I was working on my birthday, the kids and I went out for some belated birthday cupcakes the day after my birthday! We enjoyed the delicious cupcakes at Amy Cupcake Shop in Hopkins.
After cupcakes, we went down the street to the Hopkins Theater to see Trolls.
In the midst of a lovely tantrum, Trevor managed to rip his door off the wall, leaving behind screws and broken splinters of wood on the floor. He went without a door for much of a week, then we had a repairman come to the house and fix it and reinforce it.
Trevor loves preschool! I was a helper for part of the day on Valentine's Day for their class party. Here is story time with his teacher Mrs. Bauer. Trevor is sitting nicely in front in this photo (in the red plaid shirt).
Stringing beads on his red yarn.
Trevor was excited about the Captain America mask that was part of one of the Valentines he received from his classmates.Nanny helped the kids make incredible Valentine mailboxes for their Valentine exchanges at school!
Sarah and I made her puzzle, although Sarah lost interest in the puzzle after a bit and wanted to color the poster instead. She asked me to finish the puzzle and I happily obliged. (I like doing puzzles!)
Trevor's teacher e-mailed me photos of him learning about electricity.
We went out to lunch at Panera and Austin and Trevor were being goofballs together. I love it when they get along!
Sarah snagged Daddy's shades and decided to wear them indoors.
Then we saw Dr. Seuss's "The Sneetches" musical at Children's Theater Company.
We had front row center seats and the kids enjoyed peeking in the orchestra pit before the show.Grandpa sometimes pops over for Saturday mornings with the kids and brings donuts. This past Saturday, Nanny and Grandpa came for "donut Saturday" and stayed to play for a while. Donuts and dominos in your jammies with Nanny and Grandpa...the kids were in heaven!
At Church on Sunday, the bell choir was there and we were sitting right behind them. When Mass was over, one of the musicians invited Austin to try out the bells. Here he is using the mallets to play the larger bells. He also got to try picking them up and ringing them different ways.
We've otherwise been keeping busy with Sarah's dance team, which is ramping up to competition season in about a month. I'm on the "memory book committee" for her dance studio, so I am in charge of making digital scrapbook pages about her team for the yearly Memory Book.
Austin continues with his winter training and futsal for soccer. Planning is underway for the spring/summer season and his team lost its manager when the manager's son was changed to a different team. Nobody seemed willing to be the manager, so I agreed to do it. I'm not sure I knew what I was getting myself into! It is a lot more work than I thought it would be and it is frustrating when everybody else is not as organized about it as I am. It is like pulling teeth sometimes to get families to communicate, turn in paperwork, etc. I'm sure once the schedules are done, tournaments are registered for, etc. that things will settle down, but for now it is a lot of work.
Trevor continues with swimming lessons and is doing quite well, I hear. He is going to start playing soccer this year too! (Preschool soccer is one of he cutest thing I've ever seen!) Sarah's going to try to fit her recreational soccer team in around her dance schedule. Soccer should be ramping up as dance is winding down, so hopefully we can manage it!
When did life get so busy??
