Sarah's Kindergarten Graduation and Other Springtime Fun!

We've had a busy spring leading up to the end of the school year!

Family fun night at school in April.
It was a windy evening, but the boys had fun spraying the firemen's hose.

Trevor has been very excited about the song "The Muffin Man" lately and we found a book at the library with a QR reader scan that brings up the song on my iPhone to sing along with the picture book!  Trevor was very excited about it, so we decided we'd make some muffins too!  Trevor chose chocolate chip muffins. Yummy!

As a follow up to our science experiments during spring break, we took some photos with our grown bean shoots.
We enjoyed eating the rock candy we made.

The big kids have gotten to go to some theater shows that Trevor is too young for, so I took him to a show just for him.  We saw "I Love You Stinky Face" at Stages Theatre.

Austin's class hosted the moms for Mother's Day Tea.  They served us tea and had a little presentation in which each student read a note about why they love their moms.  It was very sweet.

Sarah has enjoyed doing stamping crafts with Nanny and making cards.

Last time Nanny came over to stamp, Trevor had fun getting in on the action too.
It was so cute to see him meticulously coloring with colored pencils and holding the pencil right at the tip.  He did a great job!

I had a nurse practitioner student rotating with me in clinic for a few months, and she brought cookies and an edible bouquet as a "thank you" on the last day of her rotation.  I brought what was left of the edible arrangement home at the end of the work day.  The fruit on there was delicious and the arrangement was really cute.  They put the sticks in foam in the pot, then cover the foam with kale.  Sarah picked the kale out of the arrangement and started devouring it!
She loved it!

We enjoyed brunch at Grandpa's golf club for Mother's Day.

Two days later, Trevor and I were doing the grocery shopping errands when I realized that someone had cut his hair!  I got the whole story about how Sarah cut his hair.  Ugh!
I took him to Great Clips amidst our errands and they managed to minimize the damage.  He had chunks out of the front of his hair, the back of this hair, and even some chunks out of the top. He ended up with VERY short hair, but a little more even than after Sarah's work.

We have been busy with soccer, soccer, and more soccer, but I'm going to put the soccer pictures in another post when the season finishes up in a few weeks.  We did have the weekend of Memorial Day off from soccer and we took the opportunity to go see "Diary of Wimpy Kid" at Children's Theater Company.   It was a great show and we all really enjoyed it!

We've enjoyed some nice weather lately and got out the giant bubble wand the kids got from Nanny and Grandpa for Easter.
We also did 1 more of our science experiments.  We did the Mentos and Diet Coke trick and funneled a whole roll of Mentos mints into Diet Coke...
Then stepped back as quickly as I could before getting sprayed by the "soda geyser."
We estimated that it shot about 10 feet high and the kids thought it was pretty cool.

One day when we went to the library, we found a big puzzle table with a 1000 piece puzzle on it.  Sarah had fun working on the puzzle and, the next time we went, Sarah got to finish the last pieces of the puzzle.  She was very excited about it, so we came home and dug out a big 1000 piece Tigger photomosaic puzzle to work on.  Trevor wanted in on the action, so one day while the big kids were at school, we got out some 24 piece puzzles for him to work on alongside the big puzzle.
Sarah and I finished the big puzzle and are considering glueing it together to hang in the playroom.

Sarah got to enjoy some time with friends at the Venetian Water Park in Maple Grove for her classmate's birthday party. Sarah and her good friend Ellie had lots of fun together!

The last week of school brought some fun events for Sarah especially.  On Monday, June 6, Sarah had Kindergarten graduation!
They had a slide show at the beginning showing each child holding a plaque stating what he or she wants to be when he or she grows up.  Sarah's said she wants to be a doctor!
Sarah did a great job reading part of the program.
Sarah received her diploma from her teacher...
Then went back to her spot and looked through it like a telescope.
All the Kindergarteners together.
Each class sang a song, then they all did some songs together.
Auntie Michelle came to cheer her on for her graduation.
Austin wasn't allowed to leave his class for Sarah's graduation, but of course, Trevor, Daddy and I were all there.
The next day, all the Kindergarteners had a field trip to the Minnesota Zoo.  Sarah got to be with her friend Ellie and Ellie's mom Holly was their chaperone.  They had lots of fun!
The last day of school was Wednesday, June 8th and now we're on to the summer!  We'll be busy with lots of sports and activities!

Trevor just finished swim lessons for the session. He had a couple lessons that didn't go so well (tantrums, wouldn't go in the pool or wouldn't get dressed afterward, etc.), but overall, he did a great job swimming when he cooperated!  He is really good at floating and at his last lesson he was able to float on his back completely by himself for a long time.
He and Sarah both passed their swimming level this session and move up to the next level next week for the start of the summer session.

Speaking of summer...my peonies bloomed in full force!  They all seem to bloom all at once and then they only last a few days after cutting them.  I had 6 bouquets of peonies ready all at once and another 3 huge bouquets ready to clip a few days later.  I have been brining peonies to my neighbors on both sides and I still have 3 bouquets on my counter top this week!

I also picked 4 yummy sweet ripe strawberries from our berry patch on a quick walk by the other day.  Trevor downed 3 of them in short order and is excited for more! We'll have to get down there and get a good look at how the garden is doing, as we have been so busy lately that I've neglected it a bit this spring.  Strawberries will probably be all ripe soon and then raspberries may give a small crop soon and a bigger one later in the summer. Yum!

Next week is Sarah's first major dance recital and we are very excited to see her dance!  She loves her dance class and has been invited to the competitive team at her studio.  She will do 2 weeks of afternoon classes 4 days per week in July to get ready for placement on a team and then has a little audition at the end.  We'll see how it goes.  We're really nervous about entering competition dance at this age, but Sarah is SO excited, it is hard to say no.

Soccer is still in full swing and Austin's team has had a tough few games lately, but they have a really good team this spring and it has been really fun to watch them play.  Sarah is on recreational soccer this year and her team is beating every other rec team by so much that about halfway through, her team is giving players to the other team or backing off significantly to try to get the other team to score and have fun playing the game.  We're heading to the Minnesota United soccer game this weekend for the kids to witness their first professional game.  More on the soccer season to come in a later post.

Can you tell we've been a little busy lately?  We're hanging on for the ride and enjoying all the fun!  On to summer!
