Happy Birthday Austin!

Austin celebrated his golden birthday today!  He is 9 years old already!

At 9 years old, Austin:

- is 53.75 inches tall (68th percentile), weighs 69 pounds (69th percentile), BMI of 16.79 (62nd percentile).  He wears size 8/10 clothing and size 3 shoes. He is growing well and certainly staying active!

- plays soccer on the highest traveling team level for his age group and is now enjoying basketball this season. 

- loves to watch Notre Dame Football and is a sports encyclopedia full of information about sports!

- loves to read and has been enjoying the latest Magic Treehouse books, the Geronimo Stilton Kingdom of Fantasy series, superhero books, and some non fiction books including books about the Titanic.  He is reading above a 5th grade level and loves earning AR points at school.

- is a smart kid and does really well in 3rd grade at school when he remembers to turn in his work and put his name on his papers!  He is working on organization and responsibility in school this year.  He is pulled out for the LEAP Program for challenge math and reading programs and does really well on the MAP testing at school.

- likes to play superheroes, pretend sports games, Paw Patrol, pirates, and other imaginative play with his brother and sister. 

- is a sweet and affectionate kid who stills gives his Momma kisses and hugs.  He has such a great smile with those dimples and I love his energy and enthusiasm!  He does have his moments when he throws tantrums if he doesn't get his way.  He is good at stomping around the house and slamming doors and growling when he is mad, but he is working on constructive ways to express his frustration now that he is losing screen time and other privileges for that behavior. 

- is passionate, smart, active, loving, and fun!  We adore him and are so lucky he is ours!

On Saturday, November 7th, we had a family birthday party to celebrate his special day!

"Happy Birthday to You..."

This big ear to ear dimpled grin is why we stay up late making a special birthday cake for the kids!

We made his name with Avenger's font with the A the shape of the Avenger's A. We made it gold because it is his golden birthday!  The symbols on the cake are for the superheroes - (from top left, clockwise) Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Thor.

Austin had a fun party, then had a nice Sunday with playing Futsal, having some time to relax at home, then a movie night at home watching Inside Out.  On his birthday on Monday, he didn't have school!  It was a teacher planning day or something like that.  He had his well child checkup with Dr. Judy (measurements above) before lunch and then had winter training for soccer followed by a basketball game this evening.  A busy but fun day for our birthday boy!
