The summer is flying by. We have been busy with a variety of sports, activities, and just hanging out at home getting in some play time! Here is a random assortment of fun from July.
Trevor having a multi-sport moment - Vikings football helmet, Notre Dame jersey, plastic baseball bat, and a soccer ball (all while in his jammies).
The kids actually DO play nicely together sometimes (although usually briefly, and then someone is crying or tattling - or both!).Trevor showing off his messy hands and face after an enjoyable experience with chocolate pudding!
The kids accompanied me to my eye doctor appointment and they thought the mirrors in the eye glasses area that had a regular side and a magnifying side were really amazing! Here is Trevor checking out his tongue in the magnifying mirror. So exciting to have a giant tongue apparently!
We had a fun family playdate at Mara's house. Mara is one of Sarah's best friends from preschool and her younger sister will be in the same grade level as Trevor. They had us all over for a waterslide day in the backyard. The kids had a blast and we enjoyed hanging out with Mara's parents.
Austin had basketball camp and was on the "skins" team in the "shirts vs skins" game. It totally cracked me up and he had lots of fun. (He's in the black shorts on the left of this photo - sorry for the blurry picture, but it's hard to catch a moving target with my iPhone camera since I didn't bring my regular camera).
Sarah had volleyball camp and enjoyed learning some of the skills of the game. Here she is working on hitting the ball over the net.
The library has been a popular spot for us this summer. Austin and Sarah are devouring books at a rapid pace and I have had a hard time keeping up with their appetites for new books. Trevor likes to play at the library kids' area (here he is cooking in a big pot with a chef's apron on).
Sarah (much like Austin did) started reading on her own when she was 4. She is quite a good little reader and we have been getting her some of the longer, step 2 and 3 "easy reader" books. However, she also has a big box of books that were hand-me-downs from cousin Alexis. I kept them in her closet ready to bring out when she was ready for the reading levels (most of them are 4th to 5th grade reading levels). Sarah decided to pull them out of her closet and start reading them. And she can actually read them well! She is reading books at a 4.8 grade reading level and she hasn't even started Kindergarten yet!
We had fun one evening checking out a splash pad park at Round Lake in Eden Prairie. The kids had lots of fun!
In the hammock of the pirate ship.
Checking out the "tick tock crock" that Trevor saw off the starboard bow.
And Austin had fun with the spinning water buckets that filled up and then dumped on your head when they were full.
Some fun cousin playtime when Theo had to stay home from daycare due to a fever.
Wrapped up with Dairy Queen Blizzards for "Miracle Treat Day" benefitting Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare. Great reason to have ice cream!
"Donut Saturday" wrestling with Grandpa.
Next up...our annual family trip to the lake.
