We are so thankful for all the amazing people in our lives! This year, we celebrated Thanksgiving with a quiet dinner at Nanny and Grandpa's house with just the 5 of us and Nanny and Grandpa. We had LOTS of delicious food and enjoyed some relaxing time together.
The kids were really excited to help cook. They started by cooking pancakes in the play kitchen.
Earlier in the day, Trevor saw some Christmas themed floats in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and told the TV firmly, "It's not Christmas time!" By later in the day, however, he was ready to get in the holiday spirit with a Rudolph reindeer nose.
Austin enjoyed watching football with Grandpa.
While Trevor donned some cool shakes and piloted his aircraft carrier and airplanes around the family room.
Sarah colored the Thanksgiving turkey in the newspaper.
And Trevor and Nanny tried out the Angry Birds bean bag toss game.
Story time!
The kids were really excited to help cook dinner! Sarah started with peeling the potatoes with Grandpa.
Trevor got a turn with the potato peeler too.
Ready to help with oven mitt and whisk in hand!
Then Sarah meticulously put each piece of potato into the pot to boil.
Putting the whisk to good use mixing the sauce for the sweet potatoes.
Trevor helped roll the rolls, then attacked them with a pasta spoon.
Time to beat the potatoes...with helpers.
Sarah was festive in the turkey hat she made at preschool.
We enjoyed a fabulous dinner, had a little more play time, then headed home to get the kids in bed. I later did something that I never thought I'd do...I went shopping on Thanksgiving! OK, that sounds way more involved than it actually ended up being. We were hanging out after putting the kids to bed and Steve was frustrated with his old iPad, which wasn't handling the newest software update very well. I asked if he would like a new iPad for Christmas and he said he would. I looked up different options online and found that Target was selling iPads for the same price as the other online and store retailers, but Target was offering a $140 gift card with purchase. I called to see if the store was still open since the 6pm Thanksgiving night opening and then made the crazy decision to run over to our local Target store and see how busy it was. I left the house at 10:15pm, popped in to a busy (but not crazy busy) Target store, got the iPad (and the $140 gift card), and was home by 10:35pm. Success!
