Easter

I hope you all had a blessed Easter! Ours was chaotic, but it was wonderful to celebrate with family.

I've been working a lot of night shifts, so I've been home during the day, but often quite tired. I worked Friday night and it was a busy night, so I didn't get any sleep at work. When I got home, I napped briefly while Steve got Austin dressed and made him breakfast. Then we headed to an Easter egg hunt. Unfortunately, Steve looked up the directions to the location that was hosting an Easter egg hunt at 10am instead of the one we were planning on going to at 11am. We showed up and the hunt was over. We then realized the error and called Michelle to have her look up directions to the other location while we tried to drive there in time. We didn't arrive in time for the egg hunt, but the Easter bunny was still there, so Austin and Sarah did get to meet the Easter bunny.
The bunny even held Sarah while I worked on getting Austin to smile for the camera.
Then it was home for lunch. After I fed Sarah, I laid down for a nap. Unfortunately, right as I was falling asleep, Steve woke me and said we had a house showing in 45 minutes. Yikes! The house was a disaster and I was really tired. We scurried around like crazy to get the house ready for a showing and headed out. I had left my little milk cooler in the fridge at the hospital, so we decided to kill time during the house showing by going back to the hospital to get it. We hung out in the peds workroom for a while, then headed home.

Then it was time to decorate Easter eggs. We decided to forego the dye and just stick with the egg wraps and stickers. Here is Austin and I wrapping the eggs.
I told him the wraps gave the eggs a hug when we put them in the boiling water, so before we put an egg in the water he would say, "OK egg, are you ready for a HUG?" We put some little Easter stickers on the eggs without wrappers and then Austin showed off his eggs (and broke a few - good thing they're hard boiled). Then mommy headed back to work for another night shift...still with no sleep! It was a fairly slow night at first, so I went to nap in the call room around 9:30pm. I got a few hours of sleep, but then spent rest of the night admitting a couple more kids to the hospital. My colleague was very sweet to let me come in early in the evening and leave early in the morning. I was out of the hospital by 6:30am and headed home to shower and get ready for Easter morning. Everyone was still asleep when I got home. We actually had to wake Austin up so we could get to church on time.

First was finding his eggs the Easter bunny hid for him...
The Easter bunny also hid his Easter basket (and Sarah's) and presents from Gramma and PopPop.
He especially loves this egg with the lights that spin around. Then we got dressed and ready to go to Easter Mass.
Here is Sarah in her Easter dress...
And Austin looking handsome in his argyle sweater.
We made it to church just as the Mass was beginning (not early as we had hoped to), so the seats were in short supply. Mary Margaret showed us there were 4 seats up front (2 in the front row and 2 in the row right behind it). We were very hesitant to sit there because Austin is not very well behaved in church sometimes and being in the front would take away the restraints of the back row. She insisted that when kids can see what is going on, they behave better. We went ahead and sat there. It went OK, but not great. Steve did have to take Austin out to the narthex kicking and screaming at one point and I moved to the 2nd row to breastfeed Sarah more discreetly, but otherwise, it went fine.

Then we headed to Nanny and Grandpa's and started the Easter morning sequence again...hunting for eggs and baskets.

Austin with a Lightening McQueen basket to collect eggs in.
There were even Car eggs that had chocolate cars inside!Finding eggs....with an egg in one hand and a chocolate car in the other. There was even an egg to find on Uncle Brian's head.Oooh, airplanes outside the window!Austin would open the eggs, find the candy inside and feed it to Nanny!Look Mommy! "Happy Easter Mouse" book!Legos!Sarah with her Easter basket and Nanny and Grandpa. All this excitement is exhausting!Naptime snuggles with Auntie Michelle. Then with Uncle Brian. We had a yummy ham dinner at Nanny and Grandpa's house, then headed to St. Therese to see GiGi and meet up with the rest of the family for dessert.Elizabeth home from college (and she brought her beau, Mickey!). Hope we didn't scare him away - we are a crazy family! Then back to Nanny and Grandpa's to get the kids bathed and in jammies for the ride home. We put Sarah in the "Baby's First Easter" outfit that Austin wore for Easter when he was a baby. It was a little big on her, but worked nicely for jammies.I had clinic on Monday and now have Tuesday off. I dressed Sarah in her jeans for the first time and she was so cute in them! Here is Sarah wearing her "baby sister" shirt and Austin in his "big brother" shirt. Kisses, kisses...all day long.
