After a busy and fun summer, the kids headed back to school this fall. Austin started the week before Labor Day and Sarah and Trevor started the Wednesday and Thursday after Labor Day, so I didn't catch a photo of each of them on their first day of school. They did humor me by getting an almost first day of school photo! This year, Trevor is in 5th grade, Sarah is in 8th grade, and Austin is in 11th grade.

Between their first days of school, we travelled to Notre Dame for our family football game day! On the way, we stopped for a college visit at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Austin is interested in studying Cybersecurity in college and we found a US News and World Report rankings list that put UIUC at #5 best colleges for cybersecurity. They have a great computer science department, but we discovered that they don't actually have a major in cybersecurity there. In fact, only 1 of the schools on that list we found actually has a major in cybersecurity. It was a nicer campus than we anticipated and we enjoyed starting our college visits with Austin!
Then on to the Golden Dome with family!
We stopped by the admissions office (Austin's official ND visit is September 30th), and they had a LEGO main building/golden dome displayed!
They even had little LEGO figures of all the dorms, sports teams, etc. We found the fencer!
Trevor convinced his big brother to let him sit on his shoulders for the concert on the steps!
Then back home for Sarah and Trevor to start school!
Austin made the JV Soccer team at BSM!
His season sadly came to a very abrupt end in mid-September, but we'll talk about that later.
He started off the season doing quite well. He played defense on this team and was a leader on the field.
He even tied his shoes without me having to bother him about it! He IS growing up!
Trevor had the "Back to School Open" fencing tournament at his fencing club and he won 3rd place, beating the #1 seed in the direct elimination portion of the tournament!
When we arrived home from his tournament, his new fancy fencing bag had arrived!
Starting in May, I have been doing a fitness plan that runs in 8 week rounds. I had been frustrated that I gained about 20 pounds suddenly without change in diet or exercise. It is a great program called E2M Fitness ("Eager 2 Motivate"). I am proud of my results!

End of Round 2:
I will not take all the credit, however, as I have been very lucky to have Sarah cooking (on plan) meals for us all summer, and even cooking most nights for us now that school has started! That definitely makes it a LOT easier to stick to my healthy eating plan! Sarah is a remarkably talented cook!
