This year, Sarah continues to dance on the competition team (aka "Performing Company") at Center Stage Dance Studio. She technically still counts as a petite due to her age, but she was placed on a junior level team (the "Junior Dream Angels" or JDA for short).
Trevor took the boys hip hop recreational class and performed at one of the recitals.
Steve did the Daddy Daughter Dance with Sarah again this year too.
Junior Production - "School Days"
Jazz - "Boom"
Tap - "Kids in America"
Lyrical - "Lullaby for a Stormy Night"
Petite Ballet - "Reflection"
Dads and Dancers - "We Could Be Heroes"
Trevor's Hip Hop Class - "Playin' Basketball"
We started Sarah's dance season with a dress rehearsal right before spring break. Dress rehearsal means costumes and hair, but no makeup. Yay for not having to do the eyelashes!
Here is Sarah with half her teammates in their jazz costumes. They did "Boom" for this dance and had drumsticks for props!
Sarah is 2nd from the left in this photo.
Ballet was "Reflection" from Mulan.
Such a pretty hair piece for this costume.

Tap was "Kids in America" (yes, the one from the movie "Clueless").
This was their first year competing lyrical and they did a beautiful job! Their piece was "Lullaby for a Stormy Night" and they did so well by the end of the season that I got goosebumps and teared up a little.
After that, it was on to competitions!
We had a little photo bomber after getting hair and make up done.
My beautiful girl doesn't even look like herself when she is all made up! This is everything but the lipstick (which we do when we get there). She is getting SO much better at letting me put the eyelashes and eyeliner on without blinking her eyes the whole time!
First was "Tribute National Talent Competition".
For our first competition of the year, our team did a great job!
- Tap "Kids in America" got a Supreme 1st score, placed 1st in age 9 tap category, 1st overall in junior intermediate large groups!
- Ballet "Reflection" got an Elite 1st score, placed 1st in category.
- Lyrical "Lullaby for a Stormy Night" got an Elite 1st score, 2nd in category, and 6th overall!
- Jazz "Boom" got an Elite 1st, placed 2nd in category, and 9th overall.
- Junior Production "School Days" got a Supreme 1st score and placed 1st overall in Junior Productions/Lines.

Rehearsing before taking the stage.
(The extra leg is the dancer behind her in formation.)
We didn't get too many pics of Sarah on stage in this dance. When she was up front, the cameraman got lots of photos of the other side, then came back to her side when she was in back.
Sarah is on the far right of this photo.
Her face is covered, but she is in the middle of this photo.

Ballet - "Reflection"
Sarah LOVES ballet!
Sarah is easy to spot in this group. She is very tall in the back just right of middle.

Backstage with the Junior Dream Team

Life of a dancer - dragging the dream duffel through the skyways to get to the Convention Center.
Fun dinner out to celebrate a great competition!
Our last competition of the season was Revolution.
- Ballet scored Elite Gold, 1st in category, 9th overall.
- Jazz scored Elite Gold, 1st in category, 4th overall.

Sarah got to go up on the podium to accept the 1st place award for our lyrical dance!
This is the first year our team did lyrical and they won the overall, which means that this lyrical dance beat all the other tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and ballet dances in the junior large groups! Way to go girls!
A very successful competition for our CSDS dancers!
Next up was the banquet for all the competition dancers.

Backstage ready to rehearse Kids in America.
Finale time!
Then recitals!
Backstage ready to the start the show.
For the Friday recital, Trevor's class performed their hip hop dance, "Playin Basketball".
His costume looked cute with Sarah's red, white, and blue tap costume.
Auntie Trish came to the show on Friday!
Nanny and Grandpa came to the Friday show too!
After the Saturday show, we all go out to celebrate together.
Here are the moms.
And the tired little dancers!
It was an insanely busy week and we were all exhausted by the end, but it was fun to watch my Sarah do what she loves and see Trevor take the stage for the first time and try something new!
