Trevor turned 4 on August 23rd, which also was his first day of preschool.
At 4 years old, Trevor:
- is about 41 3/8 inches tall and 38.2
lbs. (We measured him a few weeks ago when we popped in to clinic for something). He has his 4 year well child checkup in September once clinic calms down (it is always crazy busy right before school starts, so we wait until later for his checkup).
- wears 4T size clothes.
- is potty trained for peeing, but completely refuses to stool in the potty and makes messes in his underpants or pull ups instead.
- loves pirates, puzzles, running, and playing.
- is rambunctious and active. He is a "spirited child" that I am learning how to parent.
- has sustained many injuries, including multiple bonks on the head. He recently had his first set of staples in his head after falling running in the lobby of a restaurant in Wisconsin Dells.
- is witty, with a sense of comedic timing that seems to come naturally to him. He also loves to just be goofy sometimes.
- knows most of his letters, can spell his name and write a few letters. Loves to read books with us.
- is going to bed much better lately, though nap time is still a fight some days. He loves to snuggle up with Mom or Dad in bed, but sometimes kicks us out of his room and then wants us to come back and snuggle.
- gives many big hugs and kisses, especially when I am leaving for work in the morning.
- is a sweet, funny, active, adorable little boy who steals my heart with his adorable smile!
On August 20th, we had a family party to celebrate. Trevor chose a pirate theme similar to last year's Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme. He has continued to really enjoy his pirate toys.
Ready for the party with pirate balloons and hat.
A little pirate mischief before dinner.
Trevor loves macaroni and cheese and requested it for his birthday, so I made homemade mac and cheese from scratch and put a ham in the crock pot. Mom brought salad and jello and bread and we had a super yummy dinner! After dinner, Trevor opened some presents. The first gift he opened had dinosaur claws in it.
He wore the claws right away and decided he would use them to open his next presents.
Hugs all around to say "thank you."
Nanny made him a really cool treasure chest card.
Nanny and Grandpa got Trevor the Bucky ship from Jake and the Neverland Pirates and it was a big hit with all the kids.
The kiddos ready for cake!
Last year, we made a pirate ship, so this year, we made a treasure chest. The base is chocolate cake, the top is molded rice krispie treats covered in chocolate frosting with fondant strips for the embellishments on the chest. The opening is filled with chocolate coins, chocolate bars, candy necklaces, and a ring pop.
Blowing out the #4 candle.
On Trevor's actual birthday, it was his first day of preschool at SACS. He had a good day at school. He got to wear a birthday crown, bring birthday treats, and his class sang him "Happy Birthday". He got to be the line leader when the class came out for pickup. After school, he was home with Nanny while Mommy went to some doctor appointments, then we all went out to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. He got a balloon and an ice cream sundae there. Then we headed home to give him his presents from us and from Gramma and PopPop.
The Barbarosa pirate ship from Gramma and PopPop, the new pirate hideout from Cubby, and the pirate figurines from Auntie PiPi were all a big hit. He has been playing pirates with all his new toys non-stop since then.
He had a great birthday! I can't believe my baby is already 4 years old! Where has the time flown?
