January Fun

January has arrived.  Despite the illnesses still not leaving our family alone, we have managed to squeeze in some fun.

Our Christmas break plans were spoiled by the kids all getting sick, but by the very end, everybody was healthy enough to enjoy a fun day at the pool.  We headed to Chaska Community Center for the day to enjoy the pool and the water slides!
Trevor was scared of the little kid slide at first, but I eventually convinced him (almost forced him) to go on the slide with me.  He went on the slide a few times with Mommy or Daddy and then he decided he could do it himself.  For the next couple hours, he almost exclusively went on the slide again and again and again!  He had to have Mom or Dad at the end to catch him since he can't swim to the side on his own yet, so I definitely got my arm workout by catching him for an hour or so!
Austin loved the big slide. Sarah was a bit intimidated by it, but went down twice on her own.

In the last couple weeks, it has gotten REALLY cold! We celebrate a temp above zero and the kids' teachers have been going crazy with days on end of indoor recess!  The wind chills have been in the -30 degree range!  Needless to say, we've been going about our daily lives as scheduled, but have been finding indoor activities to do when we're home.  Sarah and Trevor set up a "bakery" in their rooms.
They used their Jesus Storybook Bibles as their cookbooks.
Trevor loves to help me cook and puts on his apron and chef hat to look official while cooking.

Austin is getting guitar lessons from Uncle Brian on Saturdays.  Theo came to play last weekend and had some giggle time with Austin.

We had 3 successful dentist visits last week.  We love Children's Dental Care. They do such a good job with the kids that even my Trevor sits nicely for his checkup, cleaning, etc.  Sarah had 6 wiggly teeth at her checkup!  One of those came out today, but 5 more are coming!

During this cold weather in January and February, Austin and Sarah's school is having some time for the little kids to come to school and enjoy open gym, music class, and story time on Thursdays.  Trevor is so excited that he gets to go to the big kids' school!  Here is the first session when they had gym time with the principal Mrs Moran.  How many schools do you know that the principal will hang out with the kids that don't even attend the school (yet)?  We love our school!

Here they are pretending to build a snowman. They then pretended to be snowmen and melt onto the floor. The kids had a blast!
Then playing with squishy balls.  Trevor is the blur on the left of this photo.

The next Thursday was music class with Mrs Hrad.  She is so great with the kids and they had a blast singing, moving, and playing instruments.

Story time with Nanny!

This weekend, we had Sarah's birthday party.  More to come on her celebration in the next post.
