Happy New Year!

Our 2011 has been eventful thus far.

We started off with a broken kitchen faucet on New Years Eve.  At least this time, it wasn't shooting water all over the kitchen like the one in our Rochester house when it broke.   Then on January 1st, I started my week of hospital rounds.  The car I usually drive to work (our old Audi) has something wrong with the exhaust system and it was REALLY REALLY loud.  So on Saturday, I took the van to round at the hospitals since Steve and the kids weren't planning on going anywhere.  I rounded at one hospital, then got back in the car to drive to the next hospital (which is closer to home).  Well, I drove about a mile to get on the highway and when I got onto 35W, I realized that the car wouldn't accelerate, then started shaking, and a BAD error light was flashing on the dashboard.  So I pulled over on the highway and had a moment of panic.  There I was on the side of the highway, with a "disabled vehicle", with Steve stuck at home since I had the carseats and he had the kids, and my mommy was in Florida and couldn't come save me.  Add to that the fact that it was New Years Day and there weren't any repair shops or dealerships open, and I started to get worried.  Luckily, our auto insurance has roadside assistance and sent a tow truck to get the car and tow it to a very nearby Honda dealership.  Even better, my colleague who was rounding at the other 2 hosiptals left me a message on my cell phone saying that she was done with her rounds and to call her if I needed any help with rounds.  I called her and told her that I was stuck on the highway while trying to get to the other hospital.  She came and picked me up on the side of the highway, brought me to the other hospital, divided up the babies and rounded with me, then brought me home!  What an angel!

I was able to take the loud, but functioning car to work the next couple days until the dealership opened on Monday and fixed our car.  Our warranty just made it - it expires at the end of this month, so we just squeaked in this repair for free!  The tow truck was covered by our auto insurance since it was less than 15 miles.  Yay!  Then on Monday night after night clinic, we did some car shuffling and picked up the newly repaired minivan.  We got the other car fixed today, though that one cost us upwards of $600.

So that was our eventful start to the new year.  We had a busy week as I did hospital rounds in the mornings and night clinic each evening.  Austin has more trouble with these weeks because I have to leave when he is awake and he begs me not to go to work in the evenings.  One more rounding week in a couple weeks, then not again until the summer!

We're hoping the rest of our 2011 is a bit calmer than this week!

Here's some cuteness from the past week or so...the kids have been thoroughly enjoying the toys they got for Christmas and have been having fun hanging out at home this past week.

Here Austin is playing with his color wonder sound studio coloring toy.
Sarah is a climber!  If you take your eye off her for 2 seconds, she climbs up onto her new rocking chair and stands on it.
Austin is getting really good at the memory game.
Sarah checking out Austin's computer.  It looks like she's working very seriously in this picture...with her pacifier, of course.
Austin has been having fun playing with his new construction toys...they're cars, airplanes, etc. that have big bright screws to put them together with and a "power drill" to use with the screws.
Goofball!  Sarah is getting lots more teeth...and has been chewing on her pacifier in odd ways.  She knows she's funny and will make faces at me.  She also is talking a lot more.
When Nanny got back from Florida, she came over to play for a bit and brought Austin an airline captain hat...which he adores!
Check out the "cheese" smiles he gives me now.

A cute video of Austin and Sarah totally cracking each other up.  I love it!
