Anyway, there was a little fair at GiGi's memory care home last week and Austin got to join in the fun and games.
He was really excited about the birds in the aviary.
They had a little duck pond game and the nice gentleman in this picture helped Austin win a prize.
Austin had fun pushing GiGi in her wheelchair.
Then on to the petting zoo...
The bunnies stayed still long enough for Austin to pet them.
The ducks and chickens wouldn't stand still and Austin tried chasing them, but never really caught them. So he decided to go around and give kisses to all the bunnies.
The animals were eating the grass and Austin had fun feeding them.
Here he is feeding the cow.
The horse wasn't very interested.
Then the llama...
Austin grabbed some grass and kept trying to get it in front of the llama's face.
He kept saying, "Here you go. Eat it! Eat it!"
"Dont' you want it? Eat it! Eat it!"
Then the "hand gunk" (aka the hand sanitizer). Yay for avoiding HUS (seems like all the kids I took care of in residency with HUS had been to a petting zoo).
Then inside for some more games. He did a fun fishing game with Nanny and won another prize. By then the camera was dead, so I took pictures on my iPhone. I'm still getting used to using it and the pics came out blurry. Then he tried the "clothespin race."Then on to playing catch with GiGi using the green smiley face beach ball he won.
Here he is "getting his catching hands ready."
The excitement about the new ball continued at home and we played catch some more.
Having fun playing...
Sarah's not used to wearing socks. She promptly removed one and gave it to me.
These days, Sarha is always on the move. Austin gave her one of his beach ball prizes and she had fun chasing it around the room and then throwing it again. (As a side note, check out all the drool!)
More fun...we went around looking at booster seats to consider for Austin's next carseat and he found a Sesame Street fire truck ride along the way.My little man is getting so big!
Sarah is loving her baths.
She is also getting SO mobile! She crawls really well now, but still is on a quest to go right to walking. She pulls to a stand on anything she can get her hands on (toys, tables, couches, Mommy and Daddy, and even Austin). She even lets go and stands on her own for a few seconds before falling back down on her diaper butt. In the last few days she has also been waving hi and bye. She holds up her arms and opens and closes her hands like she is waving. She even seems to say "hi" sometimes when she's doing it. She's probably just imitating us saying "hi" but it sure sounds like she's saying hello to us. All these skills are more like 9 month old skills and she's only 7 months old.
Austin loves to "hold" Sarah, and even though he is pretty rough with her, she loves it!
This is what I got when trying to catch a photo of them together...
Now, unfortunately, both kids are under the weather. Austin has a croupy cough and Sarah is really congested and cranky. Sleep has been hard to come by and Mommy and Daddy are pretty tired. We're hoping for a nice weekend of family time (and maybe an Irish victory). We're also hoping the box elder bugs that have swarmed our house decide that fall is too cold for them and go away. Yesterday, I caught/killed 7 of them in the house, one that was in Sarah's room, crawling across the carpet toward her and another that had the audacity to crawl across my board study book as I was reading it!
Coming up this week...Austin has his first field trip on Tuesday and he's very excited to go to the apple orchard on a big kid school bus with his class. Then come Michelle and Kevin's birthdays on October 2.
