Busy Fun Weekend

We had a whirlwind weekend full of fun!  Thursday, we spent some time at home before heading up to the Twin Cities Thursday night.  When I was packing the kids for the weekend, I put in their swim suits for our potential trip to the pool over the weekend.  Sarah hadn't tried on her new swimming suit yet and since she is such a chubby baby, I wanted to make sure it would fit.  I tried it on her...and it was sooooo cute!
She even has a little coverup that matches.  How cute!
We enjoyed the nice weather by taking a walk/bike around the neighborhood.  Austin loves his bike and is good at riding it, but he likes going up hill better than downhill because he gets nervous going downhill when he gets going fast.  He hasn't really gotten comfortable with how to do the brakes yet, so he puts his feet down to slow down (destroying the front of his shoes, of course).
Sarah rode in the stroller without her carseat for the first time.  She was pretty comfy.

Then we headed north to the Twin Cities.  Friday, we got to see Jon Byrer, our friend from college who was in town for the weekend.  Then Ann and her son John came over to visit for a bit too.  It was also our 6th wedding anniversary and we pulled the top tier of our wedding cake out of my mom's freezer.  She discovered it a few months ago (we had no idea there was still more cake frozen) and we decided to give it a try.  We thawed it and it was actually still really good!  It was odd to see my 3 year old son chowing down on my wedding cake from 6 years ago (long before he was around).
Some fun with Grandpa before bedtime

Sarah is growing up so fast...she is already driving!

Saturday, we had a family wedding shower for Michelle at Jeannie's house.  Here are the beautiful hostesses and their amazing food...

The boys had fun haning out at Nanny and Grandpa's house while we were at the wedding shower. Then, when I got home, Sarah stayed with Nanny and Grandpa while Steve and I took Austin to the movie theater to see Toy Story 3.  He has been really into watching Toy Story 2 at home lately and we had heard great reviews of Toy Story 3, so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring Austin to a movie theater for the first time and have some alone time with Mommy and Daddy.  He had lots of fun and really liked the movie!

Then on Sunday morning, we met up with Jenna and Alexis to go to the Maple Grove Community Center pool.  They have great zero entry indoor and outdoor pools with lots of fun fountains, bubblers, slides, etc. for the kids to play in.   Sarah and Austin both had a great time!

Austin loved the little slide (but is still too small for the really big slide)

Sarah could even sit up on her own in the zero entry part of the pool.  Of course, I was there to catch her if she fell over.

More fun on the slides.
Then it was back to Jenna's for lunch, then back to Nanny and Grandpa's for attempts at naps.  Neither Sarah nor Austin took much of a nap.  They were too excited from the fun weekend, I guess.  They sure love their Nanny and Grandpa.

We headed home on Sunday evening.  We have now been really busy getting packed for our move whenever the kids are sleeping.  We also decided to get out the highchair and let Sarah try some rice cereal.  She definitely had mixed reviews...
In retrosepct, I realized that I had picked a bad time to try it, since it was near the end of the day and she was tired.
She has done a bit better with trying it over the last couple days since then.

A few other fun pics from this week...
I get goofy faces from Austin whenever I ask him to smile.
And now Sarah likes to stick out her tongue when she smiles.
An attempt at getting the kids together

Now it's time to pack, pack, pack.   Moving day is next Wednesday (finally).
