5 months old!

My baby girl is 5 months old already! She turned 5 months old on Saturday, and she continues to grow and change every day.

My cutie!

She now is smiling all the time. She loves to play with toys and will put everything in her mouth that she possibly can. She has lots of fun in her exersaucer and still loves her octopus toy. She sits up really well now and will sit and play pretty steadily on her own (though we still have to be there to catch her when she occasionally falls over). She rolls over like a champ from back to front, but forgets that she knows how to roll the other way and gets mad after a few mintues on her tummy when she wants to be rolled back over. Austin likes to roll her back over, though he does it rather roughly at times. She loves her big brother, even though she gets startled when he shouts and sings loudly. She is doing pretty well with going to sleep on her own at night. I can put her down awake and as long as she's got her blankie and her pacifier, she often goes right to sleep. She has declared herself as a pacifier girl and not a thumb sucker, so I got her some new pacifiers that are easier than the newborn ones to keep off the ground (they can be tethered to her shirt with a clip thingie - much easier!). We haven't started rice cereal yet, because we haven't gotten her high chair out while trying to keep the house ready to show. We'll be getting that started soon and I'm sure she'll love it! Overall, she is a delightful baby, full of smiles and snuggles. We are so blessed to have her and we cherish watching her grow!

Chewing on everything she can find...

Gramma Cronk sent some really cute new clothes for Sarah and Austin. I tried to get some pictures of Sarah in her new clothes, but she was much more interested in her toys than looking at the camera...

We dropped the price again on our house in Rochester. Still no buyers. We had a showing scheduled last week and we decided we'd make the house smell yummy by making some chocolate chip cookies before the showing. Then they never came for the showing (never called or cancelled either) - how rude! Anyway, we had fun!
Baking with mommy...

In other happenings...
It has been almost a month since we put in the offer on our new house. The offer was accepted and all the details have been worked out...except the closing date. We're still waiting to hear back from the underwriter regarding when we will be able to close. See my previous post regarding why this is an issue. We're trying to be patient, but we are quite eager to move into our new house.

I had my last shift of residency on Friday and got done around 6pm. I headed home with plans to have dinner, get the kids bathed and in their jammies, and then hit the road to get to the Twin Cities Friday night before Michelle's wedding shower on Saturday morning. Well, the weather decided to act up and just as we were making plans for dinner, Dad called and filled us in on the weather report. BIG storms were headed our way and we had to leave right away to try to make it through our drive before they hit. So, without any time to change out of my scrubs or have dinner, we jumped in the car. We made it right between the two major chunks of the storm and got there safely despite driving through some impressively heavy rain. Upon our arrival, my mom had some flowers and balloons for me to celebrate the completion of my residency.

Next up was Michelle's wedding shower on Saturday (the first of 2).
Sarah was dressed in her cute purple dress for the occasion...
Check out the chubby thighs!

The beautiful bride Michelle with Sarah.

Mom, Michelle, and I (with Sarah sleeping) at the bridal shower.
Austin loved the cupcakes we brought back from the shower.

We spent the rest of the weekend buying a few items for the new house (area rug for the family room, new dining table and chairs, and a new microwave with convection oven for the kitchen).

Other fun pictures from the weekend...
We got out the high chair for Sarah to sit in and play while we had dinner. This paticular high chair has a tray that is rather high for a little baby. Sarah thought it was just fine - she just wanted to chew on the tray anyway!
We put a folded blanket under her to boost her up a bit and then she enjoyed playing with some toys on the tray while we had supper.
Playing is hard work.

Hanging out with Grandpa.
And fun times with Nanny.
My future photographer - for now she is examining the lens by chewing on it.

We stayed into Monday to meet with our insurance agent for the new house, then headed home. Now that I don't have a busy work schedule to contend with, I'm enjoying some extra time with the kids and we're starting a little bit of packing for our upcoming move (hoping for a July 12 closing date).
